--- Week 6 Notes below ---

Week 6 Notes:

Quiet Week for Top-Ranked Teams

The two big stories of the week were Oklahoma losing to Texas in their annual meeting at the Cotton Bowl, with the Longhorns coming out on top, 24-17, and, Michigan's emergence as a powerhouse in the Big Ten. The Sooners dipped in the rankings from #8 in the prior week to #18 currently.

The Wolverines put together their fifth straight win, ripping apart Northwestern, 38-0, and dropping the Wildcats from #12 to #20.

Only two other ranked teams took losses in week six, those being Georgia, a 38-31, loser at home to the improving Tennessee Volunteers, and the Cal Golden Bears, also beaten at home, by a strong Utah team, 30-24.

The top seven teams remained the same. Ohio State tore up Maryland, 49-28; TCU slipped by Kansas State, 52-45; Michigan State topped Rutgers, 31-24.

#4 Baylor absolutely decimated Kansas, 66-7. Clemson ripped through Georgia Tech, 43-24; Florida State dropped Miami, 29-24. #7 Texas A&M was idle. The Aggies meet Alabama this Saturday afternoon.
