Clemson (-7, 52) at Louisville - The Cardinals are 0-2 after losing to Auburn, 31-24, and last week, to Houston, 34-31. Louisville has the talent to get points on the board, but the defense will have to be ready to rock against Clemson.

The 2-0 Tigers clobbered Wofford and Appalachian State, by 39 and 31 points respectively, but this is a road game in a hostile environment against a team desperate for a win. Clemson may get upended here, or win a close one.

Prediction: Louisville 32 Clemson 30

Friday, September 18

8:00 PM Florida State (-7 1/2, 49 1/2) at Boston College - Up in Beantown, all the talk is about the Patriots, but, the Eagles may win over some fans with a win against the Seminoles.

BC has won their first two, beating Maine, 24-3, and whipping Howard, 76-0, so, they're tuned up well for this game.

Florida State had a couple of easy wins in its first two games as well, but lest we forget, the Eagles have put a scare into Florida State each of the last two seasons, and lost last year at Florida State, 20-17. An upset looms large.

Prediction: Eagles 34 Seminoles 24

9:00 PM Idaho State at Boise State (NL) - No official line on this game at this point, and it's been 20 yeas since the Bengals beat the Broncos. This doesn't look like a good spot for the Idaho State faithful, as they've already lost two games, to Utah and Utah State, so this is strike three.

Prediction: Broncos 49 Bengals 13

12:00 PM Air Force at Michigan State (26 1/2, 60) - This is a line completely out of whack. Sure, Michigan State may be a top five team, but the Flacons have put up a pair of impressive wins, especially their 63-7 opening week win over Morgan State.

Air Force won the Mountain West conference last year and may be even better. Winning at Michigan State would be a hue upset, but if Air Force hangs around long enough, the Spartans will settle for a 10 or 14 point win. The points are far too many to give, considering Michigan State may have a letdown after beating Oregon last week.

Prediction: Spartans 34 Falcons 24

12:00 PM Illinois at North Carolina (-10, 63 1/2) - There are five Big Ten vs. ACC games this weekend and this could be a good one.

North Carolina is 1-1. After losing their opener to South Carolina, 17-13, the Tar Heels made amends with a 53-14 win over NC A&T.

The Illini are 2-0 after lopsided wins over Kent and Western Illinois. the tally in those two games was 96-3, making Illinois an unknown quantity. Side with the home team on a late score to cover.

Prediction: Tar Heels 38 Illini 24

12:30 PM Northwestern at Duke (-3 1/2, 49) - Northwestern is 2-0 and already has a win over Stanford to their credit, besting the Cardinal, 16-6, on the road in week one.

Duke is also 2-0 and will be a contender in the ACC, but they're up against it here. Northwestern's defense will not yield points easily.

Prediction: Wildcats 24 Blue Devils 21
