Thursday, September 3

7:00 pm Baltimore at Atlanta (-2, 39 1/2) - Both teams come into the final preseason game with sub-standard marks of 1-2, but Baltimore's Matt Schaub, the Ravens' backup QB is probably going to do a better job of guiding the offense against Atlanta's suspect defense than J.T. Yates will do for the Falcons.

Baltimore's defense is no great shakes either, having allowed over 30 points per game, but that should change here.

Prediction: Ravens 23 Falcons 13

7:00 pm Cincinnati at Indianapolis (even, 40) - The Bengals have one of the better secondaries in the league, which could cause aged Matt Hasselbeck some issues and lead to a lopsided score with backup players taking the brunt of fan abuse.

Prediction: Bengals 31 Colts 17

7:00 pm Philadelphia (-3 1/2, 44) at NY Jets - The Eagles - like most teams in the league - will be resting its starters, it is assumed, so the Jets' defenders will certainly have an easier time than if this were a regular season contest.

Plus, the Jets need to get for QBs Ryan Fitzpatrick and Matt Flynn, so that should give the Jets enough of an edge to win one at home.

Prediction: Jets 24 Eagles 21

7:00 pm Tampa Bay at Miami (-3 1/2, 38) - This one is a little tricky, because James Winston, being a rookie, may get some action here.

Even if he doesn't, reserve Mike Glennon is capable of putting up points. Both teams are 1-2 in this meaningless game, and they're about even in depth, so this could be a very close call.

Prediction: Buccaneers 17 Dolphins 16

7:00 pm New Orleans (-1, 39 1/2) at Green Bay - OK, so fans won't get to see Aaron Rogers vs. Drew Brees, instead having to settle for Scott Tolzein for the Pack and Luke McCown for the Saints running the offenses.

Green Bay hasn't been right since Jordy Nelson went down with a season-ending injury in preseason week two, and that's an issue, no matter who's on the field.

Prediction: Saints 27 Packers 20

7:30 pm Jacksonville at Washington (-4 1/2, 40) - The Redskins are 3-0 in the preseason, but, without their starters, probably aren't very much better than the visiting Jaguars, who haven't won since week one of the preseason and were beaten at home last week by the Lions, 22-17.

Washington put up 31 points on the Ravens last week, but that was a regional rivalry kind of game whereas this more resembles a soccer friendly. Redskins are offering too many points.

Prediction: Redskins 20 Jaguars 17

7:30 pm NY Giants at New England (-2 1/2, 39 1/2) - Will glamor boy Tom Brady play at all? Probably not, though that hasn't changed the minds of the Vegas genii, who instal the Pats as a marginal favorite here.

The Giants have a special hatred for New England and that alone is reason to like the chances for a New York upset.

Prediction: Giants 30 Patriots 24

7:30 pm Carolina at Pittsburgh (-1 1/2, 39 1/2) - The Steelers' secondary was invisible throughout most of their 43-19 loss to the Bills last week, but their backups may be better against the likes of Derek Anderson and Joe Webb, the likely QBs for the Panthers.

Pittsburgh is a very questionable pick every week because they may not be playoff-bound, but are usually good in meaningless games at Heinz Field.

Prediction: Steelers 26 Panthers 13

7:30 pm Buffalo at Detroit (-1, 38 1/2) - Buffalo is one of the deepest teams in the league and their talented backups will be making plays against an unmotivated bunch in the Motor City.

Look for Bills' QB EJ Manuel to make some plays, now that Tyrod Taylor has replaced him as the starter and Matt Cassell has been promoted to backup status.

Prediction: Bills 21 Lions 16
