Honestly, I could give a flying Chinese space balloon who wins Super Bowl 57 (LVII) this Sunday.
We’ve got the Kansas City Chiefs from the AFC against the Philadelphia Eagles of the NFC.
The game is scheduled to be played at 6:30 pm ET at State Farm Stadium in Phoenix, Arizona. Currently, Wednesday night, four days out, Philly is a 1.5 point favorite and the over/under is 51.
The game opened as a pick after the Chiefs took out the Bengals, 23-20 and the Eagles dispatched the 49ers, 31-7, both home wins by respective #1 seeds, Sunday, January 29. So, why bother? These were the two best teams at the end of the regular season, Why not just let them play a game and be done with it? Could it be that zillions of dollars would be lost to the teams, networks, gambling sites, and the rest of the zealous, rabid partakers of the loot?
Maybe I’m being a bit too harsh, but I’ll be happy if the game is not fixed, or at least not obviously, like last year’s. That was the game that ended my 40-odd years as a football handicapper.
Well, almost. Since it’s the Super Bowl and all, I feel obliged to give an opinion, so here it is:
Kansas City will win by a hair, call it 28-27. Coach Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes, and many of his teammates already have a ring from 2019, when they topped San Francisco, 31-20. The Chiefs are very capable of winning another. They’ve been building a dynastic legacy for the past six years and they’re prime.
Philadelphia, which won the Super Bowl the year prior to the Chiefs, knocking off Tom Brady and the Patriots in 2018, 41-33. has a crackerjack offense led by Jalen Hurts, who’s always been a quality player. The Eagles could easily win this game. It’s very close. Give them another year and maybe the Eagles can capture the crown, but this year it will be the Chiefs and the total will go OVER.
This figures to be a top-notch affair with plenty of talent on both sides. All the best to both teams.
