Fearless Rick's 2017 College Football Picks - Week 1 early games
All times Eastern
Saturday, August 26
2:30 pm Oregon State at Colorado State (-3 1/2, 58 1/2) - PAC-12 meets Mountain West in the opening college football game of the 2017 season. The Beavers haven't had good season in some time. After finishing with a 4-8 record last season, they're resting their hopes on junior transfer Jake Luton at QB. Luton was a junior collage All-American at Ventura last season.
While the new quarterback offers some hope, what the Beavers need is some defensive help. They allowed 366 points last year and, incidentally, they were 0-5 on the road.
Colorado State finished at 5-3 in the conference and 7-6 overall, after losing to Idaho in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, 61-50. The Rams have a potent offense and serviceable defense, which should bode well for their home opener. They were 5-2 at home in 2016.

BYU started last season 1-3, but won eight of their remaining nine games, including a 24-21 victory over Wyoming in the Poinsettia Bowl, for a solid, 9-4 mark.
