NCAA College Football Week 13 Picks - Late Games
NCAA Week 13 Late Games
All times Eastern
3:30 pm Pittsburgh at Virginia Tech (-4, 45 1/2) - The Hokies are #25 in the AP Poll and next up in the Coaches Poll, but out of the CFP Rankings. With the same 4-2 conference and 7-3 overall record, Pitt is their equal and might even be better. Both are vying for the ACC Coastal division crown, which would put the winner into the championship game with Clemson.
Pitt has a slightly better offense, whereas V-Tech's offense is superior, but the Panthers may have played a tougher schedule. With Hendon Hooker as their starter, the Hokies are 5-0. The teams are evenly matched and this should be an enjoyable game to watch.
Coin Flip: Virginia Tech
Prediction: Hokies 23 Panthers 21
Good teams win close games and Baylor has been good enough. 6-4 Texas has not beaten a ranked foe this season, but will have the opportunity here. They lost last week at Iowa State, 23-21, and their other losses have been close: 45-38 to LSU, 34-27 to Oklahoma, and 37-27 at TCU. This one will be as well.
Coin Flip: Texas
Prediction: Longhorns 29 Bears 26
Coin Flip: LSU
Prediction: Tigers 52 Razorbacks 10
Coin Flip: Cincinnati
Prediction: Bearcats 31 Owls 17
Coin Flip: Arizona State
Prediction: Ducks 42 Sun Devils 13
TCU will give the Sooners fits, as they do everybody. Despite their 5-5 mark, they've been competitive in all but one game, a 49-24 loss at Iowa State. While they may nor win this game (though they might), it certainly figures to be closer than that fat line out of Vegas.
Coin Flip: Oklahoma
Prediction: Sooners 38 Horned Frogs 27
Coin Flip: Arizona
Prediction: Utes 34 Wildcats 7

Week 13 Early Games
3:30 pm Texas at #14 Baylor (-6, 59) - The Bears blew a 28-3 lead (31-10 at half time) as Jalen Hurts rallied Oklahoma to a 34-31 win. The Sooners also shut out Baylor in the second half, which does not bode well for them in their meeting with the Longhorns. Other close calls for the Bears include a 33-30 double OT win over Texas Tech, a 3 OT, 29-23 win over TCU, a 23-21 win over Iowa State, and a 17-14 squeaker against West Virginia.
7:00 pm Arkansas at #1 LSU (-43 1/2, 69) - LSU should demolish 2-8 Arkansas, who are 0-6 in the SEC this season. Anybody who thinks LSU will have this one over by half time has to be worried that they may pull their starters in anticipation of the A&M Aggies next week and the SEC championship following that. To get to the required number, the Tigers would have to shut out the Razorbacks and score at least six TDs and a field goal (45). Not that they can't do it, but Auburn didn't, nor did Alabama. They both won by 41. Have to think Arkansas will score at least once. As the #1 team in the nation, LSU doesn't have to impress anybody.
7:00 pm Temple at #19 Cincinnati (10 1/2, 45 1/2) - The 9-1 Bearcats have the #2 defense in the conference and are mid pack in terms of offense in the American Athletic. Temple comes in at 7-3 (4-2 in conference) and a fair resume, though losses to SMU (45-21), Buffalo (38-22) and UCF (63-21) tell the real story. The Owls just don't stack up well against quality opponents. Wins over teams such as Bucknell, Maryland, South Florida and Tulane don't mean squat when it comes to playing the best team in the conference.
7:30 pm #6 Oregon (-14, 52 1/2) at Arizona State - The Sun Devils might give the Ducks a bit of a squabble here, despite losing four straight. They were 5-1 at one time and still need a win to become bowl eligible. Considering that Utah beat Arizona State, 21-3, there's reason to believe they might cover, but Oregon has defeated six out of 10 teams by more than 14 points and their only loss was a 27-21 defeat by Auburn in week one. If they want into the championship playoff, they have to win impressively and are likely to do so.
8:00 pm TCU at #9 Oklahoma (-18, 65) - Should the Sooners win this game and next week Oklahoma State, they will be squawking about being left out of the championship playoffs, but their 48-41 loss to K-State and the lack of a Big 12 championship game hurts their chances. Besides, after that K-State loss, they haven't actually impressed, beating Iowa State by a point and having to rally to defeat Baylor, 34-31, last week.
10:00 pm #7 Utah (-22 1/2, 57) at Arizona - At one time, the Wildcats were 4-1, and had wins over UCLA and Colorado, but that was all they could muster. Five straight PAC-12 losses have them at 4-6 and probably not a bowl eligible team. After losing to Oregon last week, 34-6, Utah's defenders should be licking their chops to get a bite out of this wrecked offense. The Utes are 9-1 and wins here and against Colorado next week put them into the conference championship game against Oregon. They're not about to miss out on that opportunity.
