Camellia Bowl
5:30 pm Florida International vs. Arkansas State (-2 1/2, 62 1/2) - The Red Wolves have lost four of their last five bowl appearances, but the one win was notable, a 31-13 rout of powerhouse UCF in the 2016 Automation Cure Bowl. This year's squad went 7-5 and 5-3 in a mediocre Sun Belt. The Wolves aren't that good, but they won't have to be against the 6-6 Panthers, a team notable for lopsided scores, though their last two games, a 30-24 win over Miami (FL) and a 30-27 loss in OT at Marshall proves they can play close ones.

This one could easily go either way, but the lean is toward the favorite, as FIU has only been to four bowls the last 10 years and has a 2-2 record in those games.

Coin Flip: Florida International

Prediction: Red Wolves 41 Panthers 28

Mitsubishi Motors Las Vegas Bowl
7:30 pm #19 Boise State vs. Washington (-3 1/2, 50) - Not bad having a bowl this early on with a ranked team, that being the 12-1 Boise State Broncos, champions of the Mountain West conference. Boise failed to get any respect in the polls this season, despite losing just one game.

Considering the history of Boise State in bowl competition and the undeniable fact that Washington only went 4-5 in a weak PAC-12 conference this season (7-5 overall), there's no reason not to back the Broncos, winners of six straight coming into this contest. They're even getting points in what figures to be a close game.

Coin Flip: Boise State

Prediction: Broncos 27 Huskies 23

R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl
9:00 pm Appalachian State (-16, 48) vs. UAB - The Blazers of UAB went 9-4 overall, won the West division of Conference-USA but were blown out in the title game, 49-6, by Florida Atlantic. Having to face a ferocious bunch from Appalachian State, champions of the Sun Belt with a 12-1 record bodes ill for the Blazers.

Appalachian State emerged as one of the best defensive teams from the small conferences, allowing just 20.2 points per outing. With UAB's inconsistent offense, the Mountaineers should make quick work of their bowl appearance.

Coin Flip: Appalachian State

Prediction: Mountaineers 35 Blazers 10

Monday, December 23

Bad Boy Mowers Gasparilla Bowl
2:30 pm UCF (-17 1/2, 61 1/2) vs. Marshall - The kids at Marshall are probably not too happy seeing themselves big underdogs to the Knights. After all, the Thundering Herd went 8-4 and 6-2 in C-USA this season, and only a 52-14 loss to Cincinnati was their only blowout. They lost to Boise State, 14-7, a high-quality team and were second in their division.

The Knights got upended on a number of occasions this season, ending a long regular season win streak, ending the season a 9-3. Their trio of losses were all by three points, at Pitt, at Cincinnati, and at Tulsa, so they may appear vulnerable away from home field. They were not as dominant as usual, especially on defense. Asking them to corral the Herd might be too tall an order.

Coin Flip: UCF

Prediction: Knights 30 Thundering Herd 24

Tuesday, December 24

SOFI Hawaii Bowl
8:00 pm BYU (-2, 64) vs. Hawaii - The Rainbow Warriors took the West division of the Mountain West and lost in the championship to Boise State, 31-10. That was an expected result because Hawaii isn't really that good (9-5, 5-3 in conference).

In what shapes up to be an interesting game, BYU comes in at 7-5, having stumbled through the first half of the season with a 2-4 record before finishing with a 5-1 flourish. Their final regular season game was a 13-3 loss to San Diego State, the same team that Hawaii bested, 14-11, just a week prior. Being played on the islands, Hawaii has an edge if they come prepared.

Coin Flip: Hawaii

Prediction: Rainbow Warriors 31 Cougars 21
