NCAA College Football Week 8 Picks - Late Games
NCAA Week 8 Late Games
All times Eastern
3:30 pm Temple at #19 SMU (-8, 60) - There are two ranked teams out of the American Athletic conference, the Mustangs and Cincinnati. Temple could replace SMU with a win because they are 5-1, losing only to Buffalo, 38-22. However, last week's Temple win over Memphis has been marred by a missed call which would have overturned the 30-28 Owl victory.
Still, Temple stands a fighting chance against SMU because the Mustangs are only 6-0 by the grace of a triple overtime, 43-37, win over Tulsa October 5. The Owls will battle.
Coin Flip: SMU
Prediction: Owls 31 Mustangs 30
Coin Flip: Tulsa
Prediction: Bearcats 49 Golden Hurricane 20
The Bears have a defense capable of doing just that. They are second in the conference in points allowed and have allowed less than 21 points in all but one of their six wins.
Coin Flip: Oklahoma State
Prediction: Bears 35 Cowboys 27
This could get very ugly, very quickly if Kentucky isn't ready for a Bulldog blitzkrieg. Besides a usually-efficient offense, Georgia has allowed the least number of points in the entire SEC (74).
Coin Flip: Kentucky
Prediction: Bulldogs 45 Wildcats 14
Arizona State is not about to be blown out. Their defense will not allow it.
Coin Flip: Utah
Prediction: Sun Devils 23 Utes 21
With this game on Penn State turf, Michigan could see bowl chances diminish significantly. Penn State is on a mission to reach the top four in the national rankings and they're not about to be stopped at home.
Coin Flip: Penn State
Prediction: Nittany Lions 34 Wolverines 17
BYU is a good, but not great, football team and they just could get smacked hard by the invaders from Idaho.
Coin Flip: Boise State
Prediction: Broncos 38 Cougars 24

Week 8 Early Games
3:30 pm Tulsa at #21 Cincinnati (-17, 47 1/2) - Aforementioned Tulsa has another tough game this week, facing what may be the best team in the conference. The Bearcats are 5-1, their only loss a 42-0 smackdown at Ohio State, and that is forgivable. Cincy has already knocked off UCLA, Marshall, UCF, and Houston, so they're good and they're game.
3:30 pm #18 Baylor at Oklahoma State (-4, 68 1/2) - Not exactly sure by Baylor is an underdog here. They're 6-0 and tied with Oklahoma atop the Big 12 with a 3-0 mark. The Cowboys are 2-1 and while good, they rely on two key playmakers on offense. Shut one of them down and it's lights out for Oklahoma State.
6:00 pm Kentucky at #10 Georgia (-25 1/2, 46) - Weird start time for this SEC clash, but Georgia will be out for blood after being upended at South Carolina last week. The Wildcats, darlings of the SEC last season, just don't have it this year.
6:00 pm #17 Arizona State at #13 Utah (-13 1/2, 45) - Big game for leadership of the PAC-12 South along with USC and Arizona, all at 2-1 going into the weekend means a leg up toward the conference championship. Rankings mean little in this clash. Though Utah holds statistical edges in both offense and defense, the Sun Devils have late-game tenacity and ability, having beaten Cal and Washington State their last two games.
7:30 pm #16 Michigan at #7 Penn State (-9, 47) - The Nittany Lions are allowing just over 8 points per game and they have the ability to break open any game at any time via turnovers and/or big plays. Michigan's lone, 35-14, loss at Wisconsin earlier in the season has been followed by three straight wins.
10:15 pm #14 Boise State (-7, 43 1/2) at BYU - Finish off the week with might be the best chance at a blowout. While this is a non-conference game, it is still a huge one for the Broncos, who are 6-0 and still not considered a prime contender nationally, despite their impressive resume over the past decade.
