NCAA College Football Week 9 Picks - Late Games
NCAA Week 9 Late Games
All times Eastern
3:30 pm Oklahoma State at #23 Iowa State (-10, 63 1/2) - Not a team to be taken lightly, Iowa State found its way into the rankings after beating TCU, West Virginia, and Texas Tech in succession. It's two losses - to Iowa and Baylor, were by one and two points, respectively, so this is a team that could easily be undefeated.
The Cowboys have fallen on hard times. After a 3-0 start, they've lost three of four, to Texas, Texas Tech and last week were buried by Baylor, 45-27. Their offense has sputtered at times and turnovers are a problem.
Coin Flip: Iowa State
Prediction: Cyclones 45 Cowboys 31
Can Alabama win this by 32 points? Probably not. The biggest margin of victory in their four SEC wins was 28 points, against Ole Miss.
Coin Flip: Alabama
Prediction: Crimson Tide 42 Razorbacks 17
Not that bad, really. At 4-3, their only bad loss was against Kansas, losing 48-24. They lost by three to Wake Forest and two to Louisville. Admittedly Clemson is a much better team, but five touchdowns better? That's pretty extreme.
Coin Flip: Clemson
Prediction: Tigers 38 Eagles 13
Notre Dame is on a par with those teams, but this one is in the Big House, and Michigan is 4-0 at home this season. This should be a war, one which Michigan holds high ground.
Coin Flip: Michigan
Prediction: Wolverines 28 Fighting Irish 26
Cal, sporting the lowest-scoring offense in the conference, will be lucky to cross the 50-yard line.
Coin Flip: Utah
Prediction: Utes 34 Golden Bears 6
The Cougars are 1-3 in the PAC-12, Oregon, 4-0, and on a six game winning streak. Defensively, the Ducks can be relentless. Outside of their 27-21 loss opening weekend to Auburn and last week's 35-31 win at Washington, they've allowed five other teams a total of 25 points. That's extraordinary.
Coin Flip: Washington State
Prediction: Ducks 42 Cougars 17

Week 9 Early Games
7:00 pm Arkansas at #1 Alabama (-31 1/2, 55 1/2) - 5-2 Arkansas has lost four straight, last week pummeled by Auburn, 51-10, so there's little chance of them beating the top team in the country, especially on the Tide's home turf.
7:30 pm Boston College at #4 Clemson (-34, 59) - As a 34 point underdog, one has to ask, how bad is Boston College?
7:30 pm #8 Notre Dame (-1, 51 1/2) at #19 Michigan - If Michigan is going to regain any level of respect, they'll have to show up big against the Irish here. The Wolverines have losses to Wisconsin, 35-14, and Penn State, coming up short on the road last week, 28-21.
10:00 pm California at #12 Utah (-21, 38) - At 6-1 overall and 3-1 in the conference, Utah is eyeing a trip to the conference championship and possible Rose Bowl appearance. The Utes have the best defense in the PAC-12, allowing under 12 points per game. They seem to get better each week now. In three straight wins, they've held Washington State to 13 points, Oregon State to seven, and Arizona State to just a field goal.
10:30 pm Washington State at #11 Oregon (-14, 65) - The aforementioned Utes found a way to slow down the Cougar offense, so Oregon, whose defense is on par with Utah, should have their way as well.
