NFL Week 2 Picks - Late Games
NFL Week 2 Late Games
All times Eastern
4:05 pm Kansas City Chiefs (-7 1/2, 52 1/2) at Oakland Raiders - OK, everybody knows the Chiefs have the most potent offense in the league. Everybody also knows that they crushed the Raiders, 35-3, in last season's final game, in Kansas City.
Does anybody remember the score of their December 2nd game in Oakland? It was 40-33, Chiefs winning, but note the seven-point margin and this week's line. HmmmŠ The Raiders are better this season than last, and should be given more respect in this division game.
Coin Flip: Kansas City
Prediction: Raiders 38 Chiefs 35
At least Denver scored a touchdown, but that wasn't until late in the fourth quarter of their 24-16 defeat at Oakland. Field goals probably won't cut it against the Bears, who should find more success a mile high.
Coin Flip: Chicago
Prediction: Bears 20 Broncos 14
Will New Orleans get the cold-served revenge they seek? Probably, because the Rams' defense wasn't really ready in week one, barely escaping from Carolina with a 30-27 win. The Saints got by Houston, 30-28, but the Texans were very game and are very good.
Coin Flip: New Orleans
Prediction: Saints 34 Rams 24
The Eagles rushed for 123 yards against Washington, so they may have visions of a heavy ground game even though Carson Wentz threw for 313 yards (28 of 39) in their 32-27 win over the Redskins. Atlanta's defense looks about as good as last season, which isn't very great.
Coin Flip: Atlanta
Prediction: Eagles 30 Falcons 23
8:15 pm Cleveland Browns (-2 1/2, 45 1/2) at New York Jets - What? The Browns were stunned at home by Tennessee last week, but they're road favorites against the Jets under the bright lights of New Yor, er, Jersey?
That's right. The Jets gave up a 16-point lead and lost at home to division rival, Buffalo, 17-16. Apparently, the F in NFL stands for Fagetaboutit.
Coin Flip: NY Jets
Prediction: Browns 21 Jets 17

Week 2 Early Games
4:25 pm Chicago Bears (-2 1/2, 40 1/2) at Denver Broncos - Scoring just a field goal in their home opener was not how the Bears figured to start the season, losing 10-3 to Green Bay last Thursday, opening the NFL's 100th season with a real donut hole of a game.
4:25 pm New Orleans Saints at Los Angeles Rams (-2 1/2, 53) - Ah, yes, the return date for last season's conference championship, marred by a horrible no call on obvious pass interference that sent the Rams to the Super Bowl.
8:20 pm Philadelphia Eagles (-1, 51) at Atlanta Falcons - The Falcons will have to try harder at home after losing their opener on the road to Minnesota, by a somewhat embarrassing score of 28-12. Julio Jones was contained, hauling in six passes, but for only 31 yards (and a TD), but the Vikes only needed to throw the ball 10 times!
