NFL Week 3 Picks - Late Games
NFL Week 3 Late Games
All times Eastern
4:05 pm Carolina Panthers (-2 1/2, 46 1/2) at Arizona Cardinals - The Panthers just look horrible, especially quarterback Cam Newton, who is missing open receivers with regularity and also not running the way he used to when Carolina was a top team. On the upside, Christian McCaffrey is a game-changer.
The Cardinals are learning and growing each week, as Kyler Murray gets more comfortable with NFL speed. This would be a good spot for their first win of the season.
Coin Flip: Carolina
Prediction: Cardinals 28 Panthers 14
Surprisingly, the Giants should have few issues beating the Bucs, who have the look of another 6-10 or 7-9 season in them.
Coin Flip: Tampa Bay
Prediction: Giants 26 Buccaneers 20
The Chargers aren't going anywhere soon. Not much good to say about any team that loses to Detroit.
Coin Flip: Houston
Prediction: Texans 34 Chargers 21
Playing at Seattle is probably the worst scenario for the replacement QB. Seattle is locked into a fierce battle for the top spot in the NFC West with SF and the Rams, all 2-0. Very tough at home, Seattle should show no mercy.
Coin Flip: New Orleans
Prediction: Seahawks 30 Saints 13
With Big Ben gone, the losses of Antonio Brown and LeVeon Bell are amplified.
Coin Flip: Pittsburgh
Prediction: 49ers 24 Steelers 7
LA caught a break when Drew Brees went down in the first quarter last week, but aren't going to be so lucky against Cleveland. If they're not ready for a dog fight, the Browns will take it to them. Looks to be a close, excellent game.
Coin Flip: Cleveland
Prediction: Browns 27 Rams 24
8:15 pm Chicago Bears (-4, 41 1/2) at Washington Redskins - Washington has possibly the worst defense in the conference, though the Giants, Lions, and Cardinals are close. Offensively, they haven't shown the ability to get it done behind Case Keenum.
Chicago's offense hasn't clicked yet, but they're 1-1 and likely to see improvement here. The defense will put it on the Redskins. If the Bears can put up 21 points, it's lights out.
Coin Flip: Chicago
Prediction: Bears 24 Redskins 10

Week 3 Early Games
4:05 pm New York Giants at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-6 1/2, 48) - With Daniel Jones replacing Eli Manning at quarterback, the Giants may have turned a page. This game is likely a good time for the move, since Manning has ceased to be effective and the Buccaneers don't have exactly a shut-down defense. Never mind that the Giants are short receivers due to injury. They can lean heavily on Saquon Barkley
4:25 pm Houston Texans at Los Angeles Chargers (-3, 48) - Houston really needs to pick up the offense after squeaking by the Jaguars last week, 13-12. There are no problems on defense.
4:25 pm New Orleans Saints at Seattle Seahawks (-5, 44 1/2) - The Rams tore up the Saints last week after the injury to Drew Brees, winning 27-9. Teddy Bridgewater is a capable backup, and Brees is slated to undergo surgery to his right thumb and could be out 6-8 weeks, so Teddy B. needs to get going quickly.
4:25 pm Pittsburgh Steelers at San Francisco 49ers (-7, 43 1/2) - With Ben Roethlisberger out, the 0-2 Steelers may be done for the season. The 49ers have lots of positive energy and look to go 3-0.
8:20 pm Los Angeles Rams (-2 1/2, 51) at Cleveland Browns - The Browns were steamrolled in week one by Tennessee, but bounced back well last week, pounding the Jets, 23-3. With Pittsburgh looking to be out of the picture and Cincinnati not fielding a strong team, the Brown may be looking at Baltimore in a two-horse race for the division. They will be ready for the Rams.
