NFL Week 5 Picks - Late Games
NFL Week 5 Late Games
All times Eastern
4:05 pm Denver Broncos at Los Angeles Chargers (-6 1/2, 44 1/2) - Last season, the Broncos won at LA, 23-22, but the Chargers prevailed in Denver later in the year, 23-9. At 0-4, the Broncos really have nothing to lose except maybe the starting QB's and head coach's jobs.
These division rivals often play down to the wire, so it's somewhat concerning that the Chargers are heavily favored, especially considering that two of Denver's losses have been by two points (16-14 vs. Chicago; 26-24 last week vs. Jacksonville). Points could be very friendly to Bronco fans.
Coin Flip: LA Chargers
Prediction: Denver 24 Chargers 23
The Packers have an extra three days to rest up and prepare, but they also have to travel. The line calls this essentially an even game, but at home, Dallas is 9-1 in 2018-19, while the Packers are 2-7 as a road team over the same span. No brainer? Maybe.
Coin Flip: Green Bay
Prediction: Cowboys 30 Packers 17
Kansas City is 4-0 and on a path directly to the playoffs, having already established a two game lead on the Raiders and Chargers in their division. Considering that the Colts have already lost to two AFC West teams, they're up against it on the road here.
Coin Flip: Kansas City
Prediction: Chiefs 34 Colts 14
8:15 pm Cleveland Browns at San Francisco 49ers (-3 1/2, 46 1/2) - What is it with Cleveland, every other game is either Sunday night or Monday night. Must be something special about the Browns that the networks like.
San Francisco is 3-0 and yet to feel the sting of a loss, but the Browns are a capabl bunch and will battle the 49ers for the full 60 minutes. One has to wonder how a second straight road game and a coast-to-coast trip (Baltimore to SF) is going to affect the Cleveland players. This could go to OT, or it could be decisive either way. Whatever the case, it should be a good one for Monday night.
Coin Flip: Cleveland
Prediction: Browns 34 49ers 30

8:20 pm Indianapolis Colts at Kansas City Chiefs (-11, 56 1/2) - At 2-2, the Colts have played well in each game, their losses, on the road to the Chargers, 30-24, was in overtime, and at home, 31-24 to Oakland, last week. They appear to be just above average overall.
