NFL Week 6 Picks - Late Games
NFL Week 6 Late Games
All times Eastern
New York Jets at Miami Dolphins (-8, 47 1/2) 4:05 pm (CBS) - The Jets are simply horrible, possibly the worst team in the NFL. They're so bad, retread Joe Flacco got the start in the latest, a 30-10 home loss to the Cardinals. Sam Darnold, the original starting QB, was injured in week 4 and might have been benched because the Jets are now shopping him to other teams.
The season is pretty much over for the Jets. Meanwhile, Miami's threatening to get hot, with wins in two of their last three, including a stunning, 43-17, win at San Francisco last week. The Jets are likely to hand the Dolphins their first home victory, making the fish 3-3.
Coin Flip: New York Jets
Prediction: Dolphins 35 Jets 10
While the Bucs are just 3-2, their losses were both on the road, to New Orleans, 34-23, in week one, and at Chicago, 20-19, last Thursday. The Packers also have had additional time off as they had a bye last week. Green Bay leads the league in scoring at a robust 38.0 points per outing. Tampa Bay is 11th, at 27.8, but they get the nod on defense, as they've allowed 22.4 points per game to the Packers' 25.3.
The Bucs also have the league's #1 run defense, allowing a stingy, 58.4 yards per game. The Packers are averaging 150 yards rushing and, well, they have Aaron Rodgers. Ought to be a solid game, but the Packers seem to have everything going right for them.
Coin Flip: Green Bay
Prediction: Packers 29 Buccaneers 23
No doubt about who's starting for the Rams. Jared Goff is off to a solid start and the Rams are third league-wide in total yards (2018) through five games. They improved to 4-1 with an easy, 30-10, win at Washington last week. The Rams may be getting road weary, as this will be their fourth away game in the first six weeks.
As good as the Rams' offense is, the defense is top shelf, ranked third in scoring, allowing a mere 18 points per contest. Tough spot for last year's NFC champs. The O/U seems oddly out of whack.
Coin Flip: Los Angeles Rams
Prediction: Rams 26 49ers 17
Kansas City Chiefs (-3, 55) at Buffalo Bills 5:00 pm (Fox/NFLN) - It turns out that the Chiefs are not invincible, as proven last week by the Raiders, who took their measure, 40-32. Buffalo got belted by the Titans Tuesday night, 42-16, and will likely be happy to return home after a humbling performance.
If anything, the Tennessee game showed that the Bills are still a work in progress. Josh Allen has been playing well enough, but the Titans picked him off twice and KC's defense is likely to tighten things up after their loss to the Raiders.
Weather may be a factor, as it often is windy and chilly in upstate New York in October, but barring any extreme conditions, Kansas City should be able to rely on their experience and ability to get back on track with a road win.
Coin Flip: Buffalo
Prediction: Chiefs 31 Bills 21
Arizona improved to 3-2 with a win at New York, and this marks their third straight road game, normally troublesome for any team.
Dallas is 2-3, but their wins have come against inferior opposition and by razor-slim margins. They came from well behind to nip Atlanta, 40-39, and last week rallied behind backup Andy Dalton for a 37-34 win over the winless Giants. Dalton will likely get the start, but the Dallas defense is the league's worst, allowing 36 points per game. Look for Kyler Murray to have a field day for the Cardinals.
Coin Flip: Dallas
Prediction: Cardinals 38 Cowboys 24

Week 6 early Games
Green Bay Packers (-1 1/2, 54) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers 4:25 pm (Fox) - What more can one ask for than Brady vs. Rodgers in a meeting of two potential playoff teams?
Los Angeles Rams (-3 1/2, 50) at San Francisco 49ers 8:20 pm (NBC) - With Jimmy Garoppolo sidelined in last week's loss to the Dolphins after getting his first start since week two and listed as questionable for this game, it's uncertain who will start at QB for the 49ers in this key NFC West match-up. It could be C.J Beathard or Nick Mullens, or, even Jimmy G.
Monday, October 19
Arizona Cardinals (-2 1/2, 54 1/2) at Dallas Cowboys 8:15 pm (ESPN) - Without QB Dak Prescott - and a defense - the Cowboys are in a rough spot with the hot Cardinals coming to town.
Bye: Las Vegas, New Orleans, Los Angeles Chargers, Seattle
