18 South Florida at 5 Miami (-17.5, 57.5) 4:30 pm (CW) - Miami’s Week 1 win over Notre Dame put them on the map and there’s little doubt that Carson Beck is back on track as one of the country’s best QBs.

South Florida has already pulled off a pair of shockers, defeating Boise State 34-7, and last week surviving in the swamp with an 18-16 win over the Florida Gators. They’ve proven they can play with the big boys, so this will tell just how good both teams are. The Hurricanes overwhelmed South Florida last season, 50-15, but the Bulls are a much improved team this season. If the Bulls’ defense stays disciplined it should get interesting. The points are a must-have.

Coin Flip: Miami

Fearless Rick’s Pick: Hurricanes 28 Bulls 13

Arkansas at 17 Ole Miss (-7, 61.5) 7:00 pm (ESPN) - Ole Miss did not impress against Kentucky, repeatedly allowing the Wildcats back into the game, but eventually prevailing by seven points, 30-23. They do not look like they will be a ranked team for long.

As expected, the Razorbacks pummeled their first two tune-up opponents, and open SEC play as road dogs, though they may be better than expected They held their own in the conference last season, going 3-5, but had close losses to Texas A&M, Texas and Missouri. Given that Jaxson Dart is no longer the QB for Ole Miss, Arkansas is worth a shot with the TD spread.

Coin Flip: Ole Miss

Fearless Rick’s Pick: Arkansas 31 Ole Miss 24

Florida at 3 LSU (-7.5, 47.5) 7:30 pm (ABC) - Even though LSU beat Clemson by just seven points, 17-10, in their season opener, it was good enough to push them all the way to a #3 ranking. It’s far too early to tell just how good coach Kelly’s kids are, but they seem to have a big game mentality that will serve them well. Additionally, QB Garrett Mussmeier appears to be a solid candidate for the Heisman and/or a high draft pick.

The Gators were upended at home last week, which was not a surprise to everybody. South Florida is an up-and-coming program and the Gators were ambushed. Florida won this match-up last season, in Gainesville, 27-16. A different outcome is expected down in the Bayou.

Coin Flip: Florida

Fearless Rick’s Pick: Tigers 34 Gators 16

16 Texas A&M at 8 Notre Dame (-6.5, 49.5) 7:30 pm (NBC) - The Aggies won their first two non-conference games this season handily, but there seems to be issues on defense and concerning overall depth. This is a big test for them and Notre Dame topped them 23-13 last season.

The Irish have had two weeks to prepare for this contest and it is their home opener. This could be the last ranked opponent the Irish face this season, so they surely understand the need to post a victory here.

Coin Flip: Texas A&M

Fearless Rick’s Pick: Fighting Irish 28 Aggies 17

Vanderbilt at 11 South Carolina (-3.5, 48.5) 7:45 pm (SEC) - In what could be the most exciting game of the weekend QBs Diego Pavia of Vandy and LaNorris Sellers of South Carolina square off in an early conference test. The Gamecocks were maybe a win away from an at-large invite to the playoffs last season, and Vanderbilt had an solid season in 2024, knocking off Alabama and Auburn in conference play.

The Commodores did end poorly, however, with losses to South Carolina (28-7), LSU and Tennessee. They’re a better team this season, and the Gamecocks haven’t yet hit full stride, but will likely be well-prepared for this test.

Coin Flip: Vanderbilt

Fearless Rick’s Pick: Gamecocks 34 Commodores 27
