Carolina Panthers at Arizona Cardinals (-6.5, 44.5) 4:05 pm - Carolina got taken apart at Jacksonville in their opener, 26-10, and they appear to be no better than their 2024 squad that went 5-12 last season.

The Cardinals took care of business in a 20-13 win at New Orleans and the fans will be loud for their home opener. Kyler Murray seems to be hitting his stride as an NFL QB, making the right reads and the right moves though he was sacked five times by the Saints. Should have an easier time of it against the Panthers. Arizona is a real sleeper to make the playoffs this season.

Coin Flip: Arizona

Fearless Rick’s Pick: Cardinals 30 Panthers 16

Denver Broncos (-2, 42.5) at Indianapolis Colts 4:05 pm - Bo Nix didn’t look very sharp, even though the Broncos prevailed at home over the Titans last week, 20-12. He’s a fiery kind of leaders and should keep the Broncos in this one, but Denver’s defense is the real story. They held the Titans to just 133 yards of offense.

Daniel Jones lit up Miami for 272 yards on 22-27 passing and the Colts’ defense sacked Tua Tagovailoa three times, force a fumble and picked him off twice in Week 1’s biggest rout, 33-8. Hard to see why the Broncos are favored. The Colts could win big here.

Coin Flip: Indianapolis

Fearless Rick’s Pick: Colts 26 Broncos 14

Philadelphia Eagles (-1, 47) at Kansas City Chiefs 4:25 pm - A rematch of last year’s Super Bowl is likely to not be a lot of fun for the team that lost that game, 40-22. While the Eagles didn’t overpower the Cowboys in their 24-20 win last Thursday, the Chiefs were shown up by division rival Chargers in a 27-21 loss down in São Paulo, Brazil on Friday. KC trailed the entire game.

There’s a big difference between being at home for your opener and having to play thousands of miles away before getting back home. The Chiefs may show some wear and tear from their trip south of the border and Philly is likely to make them pay.

Coin Flip: Philadelphia

Fearless Rick’s Pick: Eagles 30 Chiefs 22

Atlanta Falcons at Minnesota Vikings (-3.5, 44.5) 8:20 pm - Though there were plenty of doubters, J.J. McCarthy showed his mettle in a 27-24 comeback win at Chicago Monday night. The Vikings defense was also solid, especially in the late stages of the game.

The match-up between McCarthy and Atlanta QB Michael Penix Jr. is intriguing. Both of them could be around for a long time. Atlanta’s Younghoe Koo missed a 44-yard field goal with time expiring that could have tied the game in Atlanta’s 23-20 home loss to Tampa Bay. Look for the Falcons to keep this one close and maybe Koo will get redemption.

Coin Flip: Minnesota

Fearless Rick’s Pick: Falcons 26 Vikings 24

Monday, September 15

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Houston Texans (-2.5, 42.5) 7:00 pm - The Buccaneers gutted out a 23-20 win at Atlanta last week but hit the road again in Week 2, facing a very tough Houston squad that went down begrudgingly to the Rams last Sunday, 14-9.

C.J. Stroud and the Houston offense is still looking for their first touchdown and they may get more than a few against the Bucs. Tampa Bay is solid, but Houston is home and they were 5-3 at home last season with a heady schedule. Should be some fireworks in this one, but plenty of rugged defense as well.

Coin Flip: Tampa Bay

Fearless Rick’s Pick: Texans 27 Buccaneers 21

Los Angeles Chargers (-3.5, 47) at Las Vegas Raiders 10:00 pm - The Raiders and Chargers are both 1-0 heading into Week 2, the difference being that LA took down the Chiefs, 27-21 in São Paulo while the Raiders won at New England 20-13. The quality of opponent matters.

If the Chargers can avoid a letdown and fatigue from the road, they should manage a solid win in Vegas. The Chargers beat the Raiders twice in 2024, 22-10, and 34-20. The seem to have their number.

Coin Flip: Los Angeles Chargers

Fearless Rick’s Pick: Chargers 28 Raiders 20
