Week 8 Results: Rick: 5-8; Flip: 5-8
Cumulative: Rick: 56-65; Flip: 65-56

Thursday, October 30

Baltimore Ravens (-7.5, 51) at Miami Dolphins 8:15 pm - The Dolphins may have surprised even themselves last week, beating the Falcons, 34-10, though the Falcons aren’t exactly a top-notch NFL team.

Baltimore finally won a game after four straight losses, halting the Bears’ three-game win streak, 30-16. Who knows whether or not Lamar Jackson will play or not? Take the safe side and go with the points. The Ravens have been wildly inconsistent, especially on defense this season.

Coin Flip: Baltimore

Fearless Rick’s Pick: Dolphins 27 Ravens 23

Sunday, November 2

Chicago Bears (-3, 52) at Cincinnati Bengals 1:00 pm - At 3-5, the Bengals may still be harboring post-season hopes, but last week’s 39-38 loss to the Jets - at home, no less - does not inspire confidence.

At 4-3, the Bears may have more realistic aims. Last week than ran into a desperate Ravens team in a 30-16 loss. The Bengals are equally desperate, just not as good.

Coin Flip: Cincinnati

Fearless Rick’s Pick: Bears 40 Bengals 20

Minnesota Vikings at Detroit Lions (-8, 49) 1:00 pm - The Vikings have had an extra few days to recover from their 37-10 beatdown by the Chargers last Thursday, but even though J.J. McCarthy is off the DL and supposed to start here, he’s still inexperienced and nobody really knows how good or bad he really is.

The Lions have won five of their last six, the only loss a 30-17 defeat at KC a few weeks ago. Coming off a bye and almost injury-free, Detroit should win this handily.

Coin Flip: Minnesota

Fearless Rick’s Pick: Lions 34 Vikings 20

Carolina Panthers at Green Bay Packers (-13.5, 44) 1:00 pm - Last week, the Panthers were hammered by the surging Bills, 40-9, while the Packers breezed to a 35-25 win at Pittsburgh.

This looks like the mismatch of the week, though there may be others as good teams begin to separate from the pack.

Coin Flip: Green Bay

Fearless Rick’s Pick: Packers 30 Panthers 10

Denver Broncos at Houston Texans (-1.5, 39.5) 1:00 pm - The Broncos are atop the AFC West with a 6-2 record and have won five in a row. Houston is playing catch-up in the AFC South, 3 1/2 games behind the Colts.

Even though the season is just about half over, Houston has to be eyeing a wild card, but, at 3-4, they need a win here. Siding with the red-hot Broncos.

Coin Flip: Houston

Fearless Rick’s Pick: Broncos 21 Texans 17

Atlanta Falcons at New England Patriots (-5.5, 45) 1:00 pm - Let’s face it, the Falcons are impossible to figure. How can a team lose to the Panthers and Miami, in huge blowout fashion, but anage to beat the Bills, Vikings, and Commanders?

Kirk Cousins might be subbing for Michael Penix Junior. This game has upset written all over it.

Coin Flip: Atlanta

Fearless Rick’s Pick: Falcons 26 Patriots 23

San Francisco 49ers (-3, 48.5) at New York Giants 1:00 pm - With Cam Scattebo out for the foreseeable future, the Giants are up against it at 2-6.

The 49ers are benefitting from an easy schedule after last year’s 6-11 flop. The should manage a road win here.

Coin Flip: San Francisco

Fearless Rick’s Pick: 49ers 28 Giants 20

Indianapolis Colts (-3, 50) at Pittsburgh Steelers 1:00 pm - The Steelers get short odds every week (lower than they should be) because of Aaron Rodgers, plain and simple. They should be six-point dogs here, but Indy is only giving them three. Look for another double-digit loss by Pittsburgh.

The Colts have the best record in the league at 7-1, have won four in a row, and have won five games by double-digit margins.

Coin Flip: Indianapolis

Fearless Rick’s Pick: Colts 34 Steelers 24

Los Angeles Chargers (-10, 43.5) at Tennessee Titans 1:00 pm - Tennessee is vying with New Orleans and the Jets for the worst record in the league at 1-7. Justin Herbert and his gang will ensure they get to 1-8.

Coin Flip: Tennessee

Fearless Rick’s Pick: Chargers 35 Titans 7
