Since the vast majority of items sold off the Downtown magazine site or by auctions are books, magazines or printed matter, we ship via the following: Media Mail Rate for Books and Magazines.. Some supplies and all other items are generally shipped FedEx Ground. We use Priority Mail for supplies that can fit into a single rate Priority Mail flat. Usually, these items are stated to ship in that fashion.

International orders are shipped either Surface Mail, or Global Priority and are always stated as such.

While we strive to accommodate every request, we try to simplify matters by using one price for all books and magazines, $3.00 - ($2.50 for most books and magazines purchased dirrectly from our site). This price, in our studied estimation of shipping and handling costs, provides our purchasers with quality service and excellent shipping materials.

In the case that a purchaser buys multiple items, we will combine shipping costs for discounts. In these cases, we will ask for your mailing address, including zip code, so that we may calculate the lowest shipping price. This extra step often results in significant savings for our customers.

There are no discounts from our stated shipping prices on auctions.


Since the majority of the items we sell or auction are used, it is understood that the purhaser is buying these items "AS IS". Downtown Magazine makes every effort to provide accurate descriptions and pictures of the items we sell. Most often, our items are in better condition than we describe them.

There are, however, always cases in which a refund is necessary, such as damage during shipping, and we maintain the following policies:
1. Refunds will be provided in the case of a material misstatement or misrepresentation in our description and/or display of item or damage during shipping ONLY. 1. The item must be returned to Downtown Magazine at buyer's expense within 30 days of purchase.
2. Downtown Magazine will send refund via check, for cost of item and shipping within 30 days.
3. For items purchased though our affiliates, refunds MUST be obtained by contacting the affiliate directly. If you have ANY problems with any of our affiliates, please email Downtown Magazine at:

While we strive to offer the best in customer service, we will NOT provide refunds for any of the following reasons: Item lost in mail (this is a common scam, and considering both our accuracy - we keep detailed records of every transaction - and the overall performance of the post office, we have NEVER had an item lost in the mail and we have shipped well over 1000 items.); general dissatisfaction not related to description of item (for instance, we state that a magazine contains various pictures of Princess Di, and the buyer states that there are only four pictures of her, and he/she expected eight - this does not constitute a material misstatement); your dog, cat, snake, kids, etc. chewed on the item; the item is not what you expected it to be; and any other ridiculous reason that people may come up with.

Auction Policies

While we try our best to accomodate every customer, there are a number of situations which have required us to implement harsh measures to ensure that we may continue as a going concern and provide excellent customer service. The most blatant abuse of the auction format is by winning bidders who do not respond to emails. Our policy is to give bidders 3 days to respond to our confirmation/notification and request for payment emails. In the case of BUY IT or INSTANT PURCHASE items, that time period is 2 days. After either of those periods of time have passed, we may relist or resell the item. Should you decide after that point - having not repsonded to our notification and payment request emails - to send a payment, if it is check or money order, you that payment may be used to pay our policy violation fees and the auction sale is voided. Late payments are also another serious concern. Payments received after the seven (7) day required time period (10 days for International buyers) may not be honored and will not be returned. You subject yourself to policy violation fees and voidance of the auction in this circumstance. Downtown Magazine will not return checks or money orders by mail in these circumstances and funds may be used to satisfy policy violation fees. We make it vary clear what we expect from bidders and violating our auction rules usually results in extra time and expense to us and forfeiture of funds by you. We may add you to our blocked bidders list, issue negative feedback, apply for fee credits and convert any payment you may have sent us to our funds. In these situations we are not required to respond or ship the item(s) in question. Our auction rules are very simple and straightforward. Contact within 3 days and payment within seven days (10 days for international customers) is a simple and abolute requirement. Violation of any of these policies places you in breach of contract and you are subject to forfeiture of funds, voided sale and potential additional charges. Downtown Magazine will always make at least two attempts to contact you after the auction or instant purchase ends. You are required to reply and make payment. You won the auction, or chose to purchase with Buy It Now or Instant Purchase. You have a responsibility to make certain communications and timely payment. There is a $15 fee for each violation of our policy. If you send us any funds and have violated our policies, those funds may be used to satisfy these fees. Any excess will be retunred to you via US mail in the form of a money order (there is a $10 fee for obtaining and mailing a money order). If the payment you send us is less than the total of the fees due, we are required to remit nothing to you. There is also an additional $5 fee for every email we receive from you protesting or questioning these fees once you are in violation of our policies.Downtown Magazine assumes no liability to ship products or refund monies to individuals or businesses who violate these policies. If you make a PAYSTONE payment for an auction purchase after ignoring and/or not responding to our emails, or after the required time period has passed for payment and we have relisted the item(s) or sold the item(s), in any case, we will not ship the item(s) (if available) until a $15 payment/notification violation and relisting fee is PAID in FULL. There are NO exeptions to the above policies. We may also send invoices for unpaid policy violation fees. Unpaid fees or any portion of unpaid fees accrue interest at 1.5% per month. Downtown Magazine reserves the right to take any means necessary to secure payment of policy violation or any other fees.

By purchasing items from our website or buying at auction or Buy It Now or Instant Purchase, we automatically place you on our mailing list. Log Files

Like most standard Web site servers we use log files. This includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track user's movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses, etc. are not linked to personally identifiable information.

Privacy, Cookies, compliance with GDPR, CCPA and other consent regulations

A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's computer tied to information about the user. Our site does not use cookies. However, some of our business partners use cookies on our site (for example, advertisers). However, we have no access to or control over these cookies, once we have given permission for them to set cookies for advertising.

We may serve third party advertisements that may also use cookies in the course of ads being served on our website, to ascertain how many times you've seen an advertisement. No personally identifiable information you give us is provided to them for cookie use, so they cannot personally identify you with that information on our web site.

Browsers can be set to accept or reject cookies or notify you when a cookie is being sent. Privacy software can be used to override ad serving. Taking either of these actions shouldn't cause a problem with our site, should you so choose.


We use outside ad companies to display ads on our site. These ads may contain cookies and are collected by the ad companies, and we do not have access to this information. Idle-Assets Policies on eBay..

The following guidelines are applicable to any and all contracts to sell:

UNSOLD ITEMS: All unsold items are subject to a $5.00 (Five dollars US) daily storage fee, commencing five days after request to supplier to pick-up or otherwise take return of unsold item(s) has been made by email or letter. Storage fee may be accessed per item or per lot, at the sole discretion of Idle-Assets as agent for Downtown Magazine. After 20 consecutive days of storage fee assessment, if items have not been picked up or transferred from our accessible location, and storage fees have not been paid, unsold items may be sold in order to satisfy such fees. The sale of such items to satisfy storage fees may be made in any venue at the sole discretion of Idle-Assets and Downtown Magazine with or without prior notification of supplier or owner.

Purchase by Downtown Magazine: In the event that certain items are not sold after reasonable effort has been made, Downtown Magazine may purchase such items according to the terms of agreement. To wit: An item which was offered at auction for $100 and did not sell, may be purchased by Downtown Magazine at the offered price. In such an event, if the agreement calls for 50% commission, Downtown Magazine is obligated to pay supplier or owner 50% of the purchase price ($50), less applicable fees.

Such items then become the property of Downtown Magazine and can be resold without obligation to the original supplier or owner.

Handshake agreements: In the case that there is no written agreement for the sale or disposition of assets, any provisions outlined above shall apply at the sole discretion of Idle-Assets and Downtown Magazine or its affiliates. Contractual agreements are strongly encouraged to protect both parties.
