Jim McMahon leads the Chicago Bears to the Super Bowl on the cover, as the Bears defeat the Los Angeles Rams 24-0 in chilly Chicago to win the NFC Championship. Story by Rick Telander with outstanding game photos of McMahon (with "Rozelle" headband), Willie Gault, Otis Wilson, Dan Hampton, Richard Dent and others. Also, the New England Patriots rout the Miami Dolphins 31-14 to win the AFC title.
