NCAA College Football Week 2 Picks - Late Games
NCAA Week 2 Late Games
All times Eastern
3:30 pm #25 Nebraska (-3 1/2, 64 1/2) at Colorado - After starting 2018 with six straight losses, the Cornhuskers began improving, going 4-2 to close out the regular season. Perhaps their top 25 ranking is a bit of a stretch. After all, they beat South Alabama, 35-21, last week, not exactly a ringing endorsement.
Colorado's 2018 season was the reverse of Nebraska's, going 5-0 before losing their last seven straight. Their 52-31 win over Colorado State doesn't prove much. They could be anything. Let's just say this game could go either way, so take the home team with points.
Coin Flip: Colorado
Prediction: Buffaloes 31 Cornhuskers 24
The Aggies usually give a solid effort, but winning at Clemson is going to be difficult. The Tigers have been at or near the top of the national rankings for the last four years running and they haven't lost at home since Pitt upended them, 43-42, November 12, 2016.
The champs are champs for a reason, and the Aggies will give a good effort, but, eventually the Tigers will have their way with them.
Coin Flip: Texas A&M
Prediction: Tigers 38 Aggies 13
Other than losing last season's Fiesta Bowl to LSU, 40-32, the Knights haven't lost a game since the Automation Cure Bowl in December of 2016. They whipped Florida Atlantic by 20 last season, so sticking with them wouldn't be the worst thing to do.
Coin Flip: Florida Atlantic
Prediction: Knights 45 Owls 24
Hard to see the Rebels start the season 2-0, which is probably why they're the favorite by nearly a TD.
Coin Flip: Mississippi
Prediction: Rebels 26 Razorbacks 14
As usual, LSU is highly ranked, and their 55-3 win over Georgia Southern was a statement to rest of college football that they are cocked and loaded. A 10-3 mark from last season is a strong reason to believe they'll take on all comers this season, but this road game could pose a problem. The Longhorns have enough weapons on offense to cause fits for any team, LSU included.
Coin Flip: Texas
Prediction: Longhorns 24 Tigers 20
One game is not enough to say that the Tar Heels have arrived. It may be that South Carolina had an awful game and maybe they were out-coached, so let's give Miami - 24-20 losers to Florida - the benefit of the doubt.
Coin Flip: Miami
Prediction: Hurricanes 34 Tar Heels 14
Coin Flip: Washington
Prediction: Huskies 48 Golden Bears 14
Stanford will do what the Cardinal does best, play defense and control the clock, but JT Daniels, USCs quarterback, may have some options with which to work. Early showdown in the PAC-12 makes for great late-night viewing.
Coin Flip: Stanford
Prediction: Trojans 20 Cardinal 17

Week 2 Early Games
3:30 pm #12 Texas A&M at #1 Clemson (-17 1/2, 64 1/2) - Well, there's always doubters early on, and sure enough, people are talking upset here in Clemson's first big test defending their national championship.
7:00 pm #18 UCF (-10, 68) at Florida Atlantic - Have to believe that Owls fans are hooting over this short line. Something has to be amiss, because Florida Atlantic opened the season with a 45-21 loss to Ohio State, and UCF might just be better than the Buckeyes.
7:30 pm Arkansas at Mississippi (-6 1/2, 52 1/2) - This is an SEC game, so it ought to be a good one. Both the Razorbacks and Rebels have good intentions coming into the 2019 season, but Arkansas just nipped Portland State last week, 20-13 and Ole Miss was taken to the woodshed at Memphis, 15-10.
7:30 #6 LSU (-5 1/2, 55 1/2) at #9 Texas - The Longhorns have really come of age under Tom Herman, who's been at the head coaching platform since 2017. Their 10-4 mark from 2018, culminating in a 28-21 victory over Georgia in the Sugar Bowl, was no fluke. Texas is a quality football team that can play with anybody in the nation. Their 45-14 win over Louisiana Tech last week shows they are good to go.
8:00 pm Miami (FL) (-4 1/2, 47 1/2) at North Carolina - The shocker of week one - besides Tennessee losing to Georgia State, 38-30 - was the Tar Heels' 24-20 win over South Carolina. North Carolina was 2-9 last year, but in came Mack Brown to turn the program around and many think he did.
10:30 pm California at #14 Washington (-14, 43) - The Golden Bears are likely to be competitive in the PAC-12 as they usually are, but the Huskies appear ready to take no prisoners, dusting Eastern Washington, 47-14, last week, following an excellent 2018 campaign that ended with a 28-23 loss to Ohio State in the Rose Bowl.
10:30 pm Stanford at USC (-1, 45) - As unpredictable as the Trojans were last season, posting a 5-7 mark, they may be sneaky good this year with plenty of upperclassmen in the ranks. In week one, they handled Fresno State, 31-23, which was no easy task. The Bulldogs were champions of he Mountain West last season.
