7:00 pm New York Giants at Cincinnati Bengals (-3, 42 1/2) - With both the Giants and Bengals posting week two wins, this contest should be a good one, what with Eli Manning and Bengal QB, Andy Dalton, likely to play most of the first half, the question is which offense will get the early scores.
With AJ Green on the disabled list, more Bengal would-be receivers will get into the game and that may eventually help, with more targets resulting in better scoring opportunities for the home squad.
Coin Flip: New York Giants
Prediction: Bengals 27 Giants 23
The Redskins were roughed up by the Bengals last week, and are now 0-2, previously losing to Cleveland, 30-10. Colt KcCoy is listed as questionable, meaning that Case Keenum will get the majority of the first half reps. Can't really buy Keenum as the Redskins' answer. Even without Julio Jones (also questionable), Atlanta looks like the better team.
Coin Flip: Washington
Prediction: Falcons 24 Redskins 17
Coin Flip: New England
Prediction: Patriots 30 Panthers 20
The Eagles are 1-1, losing at home to Tennessee, 27-10, and wining at Jacksonville last week, 24-10. The key here is that after Carson Wentz, the Eagles have just Clayton Thorson to carry the second half, a daunting task against one of the more aggressive defense in the league. Could be a long night in Philly.
Coin Flip: Philadelphia
Prediction: Ravens 31 Eagles 14
Miami seems more motivated, opening with a 34-27 win against the Falcons, losing a 16-14 squeaker to Tampa Bay last week. With Ryan Fitzpatrick and Josh Rosen getting most of the snaps for the Dolphins this week, Miami has a distinctive edge.
Coin Flip: Jacksonville
Prediction: Dolphins 34 Jaguars 10
Oakland is out to prove themselves better than their 4-12 record from last season, and thus far, they seem to be on track, winning both of their starts, 14-3 over the Rams, and 33-26 at Arizona.
Coin Flip: Oakland
Prediction: Raiders 24 Packers 21
7:30 pm Cleveland Browns (-3, 42 1/2) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers - A few years ago, the Buccaneers appeared to be the up-and-coming team, but that hasn't exactly panned out as they went 5-11 in both 2017 and 2018.
Now, it's the Browns, and they look like the real deal, with Baker Mayfield leading them to a 7-8-1 mark last season and long-overdue respectability. The Browns are 2-0, with wins over the Redskins and Colts. They should roll here.
Coin Flip: Tampa Bay
Prediction: Browns 35 Buccaneers 20
The Bills are playing with great confidence, as their defense was one of the best last season, and now the offense has some playmakers. Their wins have been decisive: 24-16 over the Colts, 27-14 at Carolina.
Coin Flip: Detroit
Prediction: Bills 30 Lions 20

Week 3 late Games
Week 2: Rick: 7-9; Coin: 6-10
Cumulative: Rick: 16-16-1; 16-16-1
7:30 pm Washington Redskins (-3, 41 1/2) at Atlanta Falcons - This is the first of no less than seven games featuring road favorites, which is a little odd, since it's still preseason and the games don't count for anything other than evaluating talent and getting starters some reps.
7:00 pm Carolina Panthers at New England Patriots (-3 1/2, 42) - The Panther s looked pretty uninspired against Buffalo last week, losing, 27-14, but maybe the Bills are better than many people think. No problems with the Patriots, who are 2-0 with both wins on the road, at Detroit and Tennessee.
7:30 pm Baltimore Ravens (-5, 35 1/2) at Philadelphia Eagles - Huge line for a road favorite here, but the Ravens look like a very serious contender this season and second year QB, Lamar Jackson, is only going to get better over time. Baltimore pummeled Jacksonville in week one, 29-0 and ripped the Packers, 26-13, last Thursday.
8:00 pm Jacksonville Jaguars at Miami Dolphins (-3 1/2, 37) - The Jaguars have been soundly defeated in both of their preseason games - losing 29-0 to Baltimore and 24-10 to the Eagles - and don't appear to be ready to start the season.
8:00 pm Green Bay Packers (-3, 39 1/2) vs. Oakland Raiders - With Aaron Rodgers questionable for this game, it might be a good idea to take the home team and the points. Green Bay is 1-1 and were throttled at Baltimore last week in a 26-13 loss to the Ravens. Rodgers will probably play - he's a gamer - but for how long is the question. The Packers surely don't want him starting the season hurting.
Friday, August 23
8:00 pm Buffalo Bills (-1, 42) at Detroit Lions - Detroit, in back-to-back losses - 31-3 to the Patriots, 30-23 at Houston - hasn't shown much, though the loss last week was a materially better effort.
