NFL Week 8 Picks - Late Games
NFL Week 8 Late Games
All times Eastern
4:05 pm Carolina Panthers at San Francisco 49ers (-5 1/2, 42) - Watch out for this potential game of the week. San Francisco has proven to be the class of the league, with a defense that stops just about anything, and a solid offense. Carolina actually has scored more points than the 49ers (166-156), but they've allowed more than twice the number of points (133-64).
San Francisco is 6-0, coming off a flukey, 9-0, win at Washington. It's likely that the 49ers are going to lose a few games. This could be one of them.
Coin Flip: San Francisco
Prediction: Carolina 20 49ers 17
Meanwhile, the Patriots have found their groove, proven against the Jets last Monday, 33-0, their second shutout of the season. They are as relentless and dangerous as ever. Cleveland is really up against it on the road, despite a 2-1 mark away from home.
Coin Flip: Cleveland
Prediction: Patriots 37 Browns 20
Oakland is equally enigmatic at 3-3, but their losses have been to Kansas City, Minnesota, and Green Bay, arguably three of the NFL's best. Look for the Raiders to take some chances and give the Texans a real run for their money. A Carr-Watson shootout is possible, as is overtime.
Coin Flip: Houston
Prediction: Texans 34 Raiders 31
Kansas City rebounded nicely from back-to-back losses to the Colts and Texans with a 30-6 humbling of Denver in the mile high city. Both Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes (co-featured on Allstate Insurance commercials) will be gunning throughout this wild affair.
Coin Flip: Green Bay
Prediction: Packers 34 Chiefs 28
8:15 pm Miami Dolphins at Pittsburgh Steelers (-14 1/2, 43) - Miami hasn't figured out how to win yet, but they seem to be getting closer. Viewership of this blah presentation might be a little low, even for Monday night standards, but even a 2-4 team such as the Steelers shouldn't deserve to be more than a two TD favorite with Mason Rudolph at QB.
This one is for the desperate at heart.
Coin Flip: Miami
Prediction: Steelers 23 Dolphins 17
Bye: Baltimore, Dallas

Week 8 Early Games
4:25 pm Cleveland Browns at New England Patriots (-13, 46) - At 2-4, the Browns have been a major disappointment, but they are coming off a bye, following just falling short against Seattle, 32-28.
4:25 pm Oakland Raiders at Houston Texans (-7, 51 1/2) - The Texans are likely the best 4-3 team the league has seen in some time. Deshaun Watson can light it up with the best of them and the Houston defense, if they play their best, can put the brakes on good offenses, though that hasn't been the case the past three games in which they've allowed 32, 24, and 23 points, but won two of three.
8:20 pm Green Bay Packers (-4, 47 1/2) at Kansas City Chiefs - Wow! This ought to be awesome. People in Kansas City are probably shocked to see the Chiefs as underdogs, but the Packers have been mighty solid, a week four, 34-27, Thursday night loss to the Eagles is the only blemish on their 6-12 record.
