Week 8 Results: Rick 7-7; Flip: 7-7
Cumulative: Rick: 57-60-4; Flip: 66-51-4

Thursday, November 5

Jacksonville Jaguars (-10, 40.5) @ Baltimore Ravens (8:15 pm, Amazon Prime Video) - The Ravens are in a world of hurt without Lamar Jackson, who may be gone for the season via a thumb injury early in Baltimore’s 36-10 loss at Buffalo last week.

Jacksonville is coming off a 42-7 throttling of the Colts last week in Indy. They are riding high and the Ravens look like victims.

Coin Flip: Jacksonville

Fearless Rick’s Pick: Jaguars 31 Ravens 13

Sunday, November 8

Cincinnati Bengals (-3, 52.5) @ Atlanta Falcons (9:30 am NFL Network, Madrid) - Atlanta can be excused for its 16-0 loss at home to the Buccaneers last week. The game was played in a swamp. Put a line through it.

The Bengals had to go to overtime to defeat the Titans in Tennessee last week, 43-36. Their defense means that Joe Burrow and gang will likely have to outscore their remaining opponents. Edge to the Falcons, lads.

Coin Flip: Cincinnati

Fearless Rick’s Pick: Falcons 27 Bengals 24

Denver Broncos (-3, 44) @ Carolina Panthers (1:00 pm, CBS) - The Panthers have been off since losing at Green Bay last Thursday, 27-19, so they should be pretty healthy.

Denver’s epic, 28-24, win over KC last Sunday, may have given the Broncos a needed boost of confidence, but they must avoid a letdown after such an emotional victory. They should. Bo Nix looked focused in the second half and the offense really got rolling. Denver’s defense is solid as a rock.

Coin Flip: Denver

Fearless Rick’s Pick: Broncos 24 Panthers 14

Los Angeles Rams (-5.5, 47) @ Washington Commanders (1:00 pm, FOX) - In games that Jayden Daniels has started and finished this season, he’s 1-2-1, and the losses have been by 2 and 6 points. Good reason to believe that the Commanders can keep this close or pull off the upset.

The 4-4 Rams are obviously not meshing well enough on offense. Beating the 0-7 Chargers 24-9 is not a testament to prolific offense.

Coin Flip: Washington

Fearless Rick’s Pick: Commanders 26 Rams 24

New York Jets @ Kansas City Chiefs (-9.5, 47.5) (1:00 pm, CBS) - The Jets are on a three-game losing streak and the last two have been at home, to Miami, 28-25, and Las Vegas, 38-33.

Having to play on the road against a likely playoff team doesn’t bode well for a Jets’ victory.

Coin Flip: New York Jets

Fearless Rick’s Pick: Chiefs 34 Jets 17

Cleveland Browns @ New Orleans Saints (-1.5, 42.5) (1:00 pm, CBS) - The Saints are a surprising 0-4 at home this season, so making them a slight favorite may not be sensible.

Cleveland hits the road for a second straight week and has thus far been impressive, running up a 5-3 record (2-3 in road games). Both teams play matador-style defense, so expect the final score to be in the ozone.

Coin Flip: Cleveland

Fearless Rick’s Pick: Saints 34 Browns 27

New York Giants (-3.5, 39.5) @ Philadelphia Eagles (1:00 pm, FOX) - The 4-2-1 Giants remain atop the NFC East as the rest of the division is just awful. The Eagles got whacked at Washington Sunday night, 27-10, and the season appears to be lost.

At least the Giants have a serviceable QB in J.J. McCarthy.

Coin Flip: Philadelphia

Fearless Rick’s Pick: Giants 23 Eagles 16

Dallas Cowboys (-6, 51) @ Indianapolis Colts (1:00 pm, FOX) - The Cowboys proved once again that they have a very porous defense in their 33-20 OT loss to the Cardinals though the offense seems to be just fine (3rd in points scored).

About the best thing that can be said about the Colts is that they have won one of three home games this season and may find a defense willing to even up that mark, even though their own defense has allowed more points than has Dallas (222-213). Take the OVER.

Coin Flip: Dalas

Fearless Rick’s Pick: Colts 35 Cowboys 31

Detroit Lions (-7, 51) @ Miami Dolphins (1:00 pm, FOX) - The Dolphins won their game in New York against the Jets, 28-25, the week after their bye, but returned to losing form at home against the Patriots, dropping a 24-19 decision, covering the spread.

Miami is getting a little better every week and Detroit is coming off a statement win over Minnesota last week, so they might not be fully engaged in Miami. Could be the upset of the week.

Coin Flip: Miami

Fearless Rick’s Pick: Dolphins 27 Lions 24
