NFL Week 5 Picks - Late Games
NFL Week 5 Late Games
All times Eastern
4:05 pm Oakland Raiders at Los Angeles Chargers (-5 1/2, 53 1/2) - Oakland's defense is killing them, allowing 30.8 points per game, but the offense can be unstoppable at times with Derek Carr at the helm. Getting their first win under Jon Gruden may have been a turning point for the team and they could surprise the Chargers, though, with Phillip Rivers throwing for LA, a shootout looks like the most likely outcome. The Chargers have allowed 30 points per game.
Coin Flip: Oakland
PREDICTION: Raiders 35 Chargers 31
Josh Rosen gets his second start for the Cards, and after going 15-for-27 for 180 yards and a TD with no picks, he's likely to have a good day against the 49ers. San Francisco will suffer without Jimmy Garoppolo, but they were only 1-2 with him and lost, 29-27, at the Chargers last week. Mixed signals, but leaning toward Arizona getting their first win.
Coin Flip: Arizona
PREDICTION: Cardinals 26 49ers 20
The Seahawks are 2-2, but the wins were over Dallas and Arizona, not exactly the same caliber as the Rams are. Home field is a plus for Seattle, but the Rams are taking no prisoners this season. They look like the best in the NFL.
Coin Flip: LA Rams
PREDICTION: Rams 31 Seahawks 16
The Vikings would surely like to avenge that defeat and things are getting desperate in Minnesota. After they whipped the 49ers, 24-16, in their home opener, they tied at Green Bay, lost at home to the Bills and lost on the road to the Rams, 38-31. The Rams' loss showed that the offense is ready, but the defense still has work to do.
The Eagles are just 2-2, with wins over Atlanta and Indy, losses at Tampa Bay and Tennessee (26-23 OT). Philly appears to be in better shape and they're certainly better at home.
Coin Flip: Philadephia
PREDICTION: Eagles 24 Vikings 17
Coin Flip: Dallas
PREDICTION: Texans 22 Cowboys 14
8:15 pm Washington Redskins at New Orleans Saints (-6 1/2, 52 1/2) - Big setup here for the 2-1 Redskins, who are coming off a bye week after upsetting the Packers in week 3, 31-17. Washington has allowed 14.7 points per game, second in the league.
While the Saints can pile up points, it will be tougher against the hard-nosed Redskins and the New Orleans defense is among the worst, giving up 30.3 points per game. Despite a point differential of just 16, the Saints are 3-1. Washington should have a fine offensive showing.
Coin Flip: Washington
PREDICTION: Redskins 34 Saints 27

Week 5 early Games
4:25 pm Arizona Cardinals at San Francisco 49ers (-4, 41) - At 0-4, the Cardinals are the only team in the league without a win, but they've come close in their last two games, losing 16-14 to the Bears and 20-17 to Seattle, both losses coming at home.
4:25 pm Los Angeles Rams (-7, 50 1/2) at Seattle Seahawks - The Rams and Chiefs are the only 4-0 teams left, and the last time they played the Seahawks, they hammered them, 42-7, in Seattle.
4:25 pm Minnesota Vikings at Philadelphia Eagles (-3, 44 1/2) - Big meeting here between playoff teams from last year. In last season's conference championship, the Eagles showed the Vikings who was boss in a 38-7 pounding.
8:20 pm Dallas Cowboys at Houston Texans (-3 1/2, 45) - Houston is 1-3, but the Cowboys really aren't much better, despite a 2-2 record. While this may be a prime time game, these are not prime time teams and the Texans, playing just their second home game, should get the win. Dallas is 0-2 on the road.
