NFL Week 8 Picks - Late Games
NFL Week 8 Late Games
All times Eastern
4:05 pm Indianapolis Colts (-3, 50) at Oakland Raiders - Somebody tell Jon Gruden that his return to coaching has been a disaster. Only Jacksonville, Tennessee, Arizona, and Buffalo score fewer points per game and now Amari Cooper is gone, traded to the Cowboys. That leaves the Raiders without their best receiver and a defense that allows 29.3 points per game.
While the Colts are an unassuming 2-5, they don't often get blown out (unlikely here, anyway), and have had a couple of solid defensive performances, notably a 21-9 win at Washington in week two and last week's 37-5 domination of the Bills. These two teams seem to be going in opposite directions and the Raiders may be tanking the season at this point.
Coin Flip: Indianapolis
PREDICTION: Colts 35 Raiders 14
To see the Packers as multiple-possession underdogs may be shocking, but there are contributing factors. The Packers are 0-2 in away games, Aaron Rodgers has been hobbled all season, and they're just not as good as the Rams. Their wins include a comeback, 24-23 victory over the Bears, a 22-0 shutdown of the Bills, and a 33-30 squeaker over the visiting 49ers in week six. Even with a bye last week, they're not looking very solid.
Coin Flip: Green Bay
PREDICTION: Rams 38 Packers 24
Coin Flip: San Francisco
PREDICTION: Cardinals 20 49ers 13
While they don't play much defense, the Saints have the second-highest scoring offense in the league, averaging 34 points per game, second only to the Chiefs (37.1).
The Vikings have talent on both sides of the ball, but their defense allows 23.6 points per game and that number is likely to go up against Brees and Company.
Coin Flip: Minnesota
PREDICTION: Saints 31 Vikings 24
8:15 pm New England Patriots (-13 1/2, 44 1/2) at Buffalo Bills - The Bills are absolutely dead in the water without rookie QB Josh Allen. Derek Anderson will start again for Buffalo, but they're facing one of the top three teams in the league and team that has consistently owned them during the Belichick/Brady years.
Coin Flip: Buffalo
PREDICTION: Patriots 40 Bills 10

Week 8 early Games
4:25 pm Green Bay Packers at Los Angeles Rams (-9, 57) - Outside of New England and Kansas City, the Rams may be the best team in the NFL, and they certainly are the best in the NFC, winning all seven of their games and by an average margin of 15.3 points.
4:25 pm San Francisco 49ers at Arizona Cardinals (NL, NL) - Bottom of the barrel here. Whichever team wins, almost nobody will care. Both teams are 1-6 and looking pretty ugly. Give Arizona a slight edge because Josh Rosen is going to have some good games, and maybe this will be one of them.
8:20 pm New Orleans Saints at Minnesota Vikings (-1, 53) - Are the Saints the luckiest team in the league or are they just good? After last week's 24-23 win at Baltimore, the luck factor may be appropriate, but, then again, if Baltimore didn't miss that extra point, the game would still have gone to overtime and the Saints could have won it anyhow.
Monday, October 29
Bye: Atlanta, Dallas, Los Angeles, Tennessee
