NCAA College Football Week 10 Picks - Late Games
NCAA Week 10 Late Games
All times Eastern
3:30 pm #6 Georgia (-9, 43 1/2) at #9 Kentucky - Georgia was the beneficiary of some very sloppy play by Florida as they topped the Gators, 36-17, pulling away late.
Kentucky kept their dreams of an SEC East title and a shot at Alabama alive with a last-second, 15-14, win at Missouri and gets to host the Bulldogs for this crucial test. Kentucky's only loss was a 20-14 decision at Texas A&M, and only Georgia fanatics believe the Bulldogs can win this game by the appointed spread.
Fact is, Kentucky has the #1 defense in the country, tied with Clemson at 13.0 points per game. They're as good as it gets and should win this outright.
Coin Flip: Kentucky
PREDICTION: Wildcats 20 Bulldogs 16
Texas has surprised this season, and are usually a force on defense, though last week's 38-35 loss at Oklahoma State was a big exception. The Longhorns may also find it tough to score on the Mountaineers, who are giving up just 19.6 points per game.
Coin Flip: Texas
PREDICTION: Mountaineers 30 Longhorns 20
Give Purdue kudos for defeating Ohio State, and a nod their way for home field advantage in a tight one.
Coin Flip: Purdue
PREDICTION: Boilermakers 28 Hawkeyes 23
Florida State finds itself in a tough spot, with remaining games against Notre Dame, Boston College, and Florida. At 4-4 they have to win two of their final four, making this a must-win if they have any hope of reaching a bowl game. The 'Noles are just not that good. a 5-7 mark is probably the best they'll do, and they aren't winning this one.
Coin Flip: NC State
PREDICTION: Wolf Pack 34 Seminoles 14
The Wolverines are on the outside looking in at the final four for the national championship. They need to keep winning, hope they can end their season at Ohio State with a victory and that Alabama, Clemson, Notre Dame or LSU lose a game, which is definite as the Crimson Tide plays at LSU later in the day. Whether they can beat Penn State by 11 points or more is questionable since nobody else has.
Coin Flip: Michigan
PREDICTION: Wolverines 28 Nittany Lions 26
Boston College isn't all that dangerous on offense, but they are grinders who keep moving the sticks. They're likely to wear down the Hokie defense and let their own defenders do their thing.
Coin Flip: Virginia Tech
PREDICTION: Eagles 37 Hokies 21
The Tide is rolling as it should, winners of eight straight and none of them even close. Texas A&M lost by 22 and no team has lost by a smaller margin. Alabama has had a somewhat easy schedule, but the talent is undeniably there. They are on the road, however, and LSU is a traditional rival. The Tigers are also a shade better on defense, allowing 15.1 points (#7) to Alabama's 15.9 per game (#10).
Coin Flip: Alabama
PREDICTION: Crimson Tide 27 Tigers 21
Not saying the Red Raiders can pull off the upset, though they might. They sure look like they can keep this one close.
Coin Flip: Texas Tech
PREDICTION: Sooners 45 Red Raiders 38
Coin Flip: California
PREDICTION: Cougars 37 Golden Bears 14

Week 10 Early Games
3:30 pm #13 West Virginia at #17 Texas (-2, 58) - Both the Longhorns and Mountaineers have 4-1 conference records and thus, have aspirations of winning the Big 12. West Virginia's only loss was a 30-14 defeat at Iowa State, but they rebounded after a bye week to dismantle Baylor, 58-14, their high point total for the season.
3:30 pm #16 Iowa at Purdue (-3, 51) - A major battle for positioning in the Big 10 West, though both teams are 3-2 in conference play and chasing 5-1 Northwestern. This game pits Purdue's potent offense against Iowa''s balance a ready defense. The Hawkeyes are surrendering just 16.1 points per game.
3:30 pm Florida State at #21 NC State (-7, 53 1/2) - After losing to Syracuse last week, 51-41, the Wolf Pack dropped a few notches in the rankings, but can redeem themselves with a solid win over the Seminoles.
3:45 pm #14 Penn State at #5 Michigan (-10 1/2, 52 1/2) - Penn State is 6-2, with losses to Ohio State (27-26) and Michigan State (21-17). They topped Iowa last week, 30-24, and fare well against top-flight competition.
3:45 pm #22 Boston College (-2, 57) at Virginia Tech - In many ways, this season has been a major disappointment for the Hokies. They're 4-3 with losses to Old Dominion, Notre Dame, and Georgia Tech, where they've allowed 49, 45, and 49 points respectively.
8:00 pm #1 Alabama (-14, 54) at #3 LSU - Ready for the Crimson Tide to roll in, the Tigers are playing lights out on defense, having hammered Georgia, 36-16, and Mississippi State, 19-3, prior to last week's bye. If any team is going to challenge Alabama, it is likely to be LSU, which has just one loss, a 27-19 clunker at Florida.
8:00 pm #7 Oklahoma (-13 1/2, 77) at Texas Tech - There are few teams that can keep up with the Sooners offensively, but the Red Raiders come close. They've scored, on average, 42.3 points per game (10th), to Oklahoma's 48.9 (4th).
10:45 pm California at #8 Washington State (-10, 50 1/2) - Close out the week with a winner. Cal's 12-10 win over Washington was a good effort, but the Huskies aren't the class of the PAC-12. The Cougars are the real deal.
