8:20 pm Green Bay Packers at Seattle Seahawks (-2 1/2, 49) - 4-4-1 Green Bay has had its share of ups and downs, the latest a 31-12 gaffing of the Dolphins on home turf. They have to travel to face arch-nemesis Seattle, which is uncharacteristically 1-2 at home this season.
The latest Seahawk defeat was a 36-31 loss to the Rams in LA, which dropped them to 4-5. There's no advantage either way on offense, but the Seahawks rate a slight edge defensively, allowing 21.3 points per game, #9 overall. That and a good kicking game should have things going Seattles way.
Coin Flip: Seattle
PREDICTION: Seahawks 27 Packers 24
1:00 pm Carolina Panthers (-4, 51) at Detroit Lions - The Lions' defense has gone into hiding, allowing 86 points in three consecutive losses to Seattle, Minnesota and Chicago, while the offense hasn't helped, scoring just 45 points in those games. The Panthers were completely dismantled at Pittsburgh last Thursday, 52-21, but they've have additional time to heal and forget.
While the Panthers are looking more and more questionable as a wild card in the NFC, they're arguably better than 3-6 Detroit, though the defense needs significant tightening. Maybe a solid pass rush will help their cause and get a road win where the Panthers are just 1-3 this season.
Coin Flip: Carolina
PREDICTION: Panthers 28 Lions 17
Update: Flacco is listed as inactive for Sunday's game with Lamar Jackson getting the nod at QB. Still like the Bengals chances to cover or even spring the upset. The line seems a bit long for a rookie QB, even one with Jackson's collegiate credentials.
The 5-4 Bengals return to this divisional clash off a 51-14 rout by visiting New Orleans.
Coin Flip: Cincinnati
PREDICTION: Ravens 23 Bengals 20
If the Dallas defense is really as good as their stats suggest, this could mark a real turning point for the Falcons, heading the wrong way. Already at 4-5, another loss would make the post-season look even more doubtful.
Coin Flip: Atlanta
PREDICTION: Cowboys 30 Falcons 16
This may be a trap game for the Texans, playing on the road for a second straight week, but they are a determined bunch and should be able to shut down Washington's 27th-ranked offense, which is clicking for just 19.6 points per game. Could be a load of field goals in this defensive struggle.
Coin Flip: Houston
PREDICTION: Texans 23 Redskins 12
Pittsburgh posted their fifth straight win, plastering Carolina, 52-21, and boast a 3-0-1 record on the road this season. The offense will get its points, and the defense continues improvement. The Steelers are now ranked #13 in points allowed (23.2), but they've allowed no more than 21 during their winning streak.
Coin Flip: Pittsburgh
PREDICTION: Steelers 38 Jaguars 20
Jameis Winston may get the start for the Buccaneers, as the offense sputtered in last week's 16-3 home loss to the invading Redskins. Still a bad game, though Tampa's defense is allowing 32.3 points per game, worst in the league. New York should hang on, in what might be a squeaker.
Coin Flip: NY Giants
PREDICTION: Giants 27 Buccaneers 24
The Colts have won three straight but still aren't anything special, posing a 2-2 mark at home. Tennessee's back-to-back wins over the Cowboys and Pats offer a clue to just how good they are, especially on defense, where they are allowing just 16.8 points per game, and that's tops in the league. Whatever the Colts may have up their sleeves on offense, the Titans should be able to handle.
Coin Flip: Indianapolis
PREDICTION: Titans 26 Colts 19

1:00 pm Cincinnati Bengals at Baltimore Ravens (-6 1/2, 43 1/2) - No line yet on this game due to the questionable stats of Baltimore QB Joe Flacco. Rookie and Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson out of Louisville may get the start, which will determine the odds on the game. Baltimore has lost four of their last five, are struggling offensively, but are coming off a bye week.
1:00 pm Dallas Cowboys at Atlanta Falcons (-3, 42 1/2) - The Cowboys were impressive in their 27-20 comeback win at Philly last Sunday night, while the Falcons retuned to losing, dropping a 28-16 decision at Cleveland. Neither team is exceptional in any area other than the Cowboys' big edge on defense, where they're #3, allowing just 19 points per game. Atlanta is #29, giving up 28.2 per outing. The Cowboys may want to pound Ezekiel Elliott against the Falcons' front, as Elliott went for 151 yards against the Eagles last week.
1:00 pm Houston Texans (-3, 42 1/2) at Washington Redskins - Tied with the Chargers for the longest win streak in the AFC at six straight, the Texans hit the road to face one of the better defenses in the league. Washington is tied with Chicago for #4, allowing 19.4 points per game, though the Houston defense may be even better. They are #7 in points allowed, at 20.4 per game.
1:00 pm Pittsburgh Steelers (-5 1/2, 47 1/2) at Jacksonville Jaguars - The Jaguars looked a little better last week, though they still managed to lose their fifth straight, at Indianapolis, 29-26. While the Jacksonville defense may be on the mend, the offense continues to be inconsistent, which will be a problem against the aggressive offense of the Steelers.
1:00 pm Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New York Giants (-1, 52) - This looks like one of the stinkier games of the weekend, but the Giants return home victorious from San Francisco, having come from behind to defeat the 49ers Monday night, 27-23. Home field should boost their morale and the Bucs pathetic, stumbling, fumbling offense may make the Giant defense appear invincible.
1:00 pm Tennessee Titans at Indianapolis Colts (-2, 48) - The importance of this game for both teams cannot be overstated. The Titans are 5-4 after romping past the Patriots last week at home, 34-10, while the Colts are 4-5, having topped Jacksonville, 29-26, also at home.
