NFL Week 9 Picks - Late Games
NFL Week 9 Late Games
All times Eastern
4:05 pm Houston Texans at Denver Broncos (-2 1/2, 46) - On paper, this looks like a pretty even match-up, but the game will be played on grass, and the Texans have won five straight, while the Broncos have lost five of their last six.
Denver's only win since week 2 was a 45-10 romp at Arizona, not exactly a ringing endorsement. The Texans are putting it all together at the right time and are threatening to run away with the AFC South. They have more guts and talent than the Broncos and should keep their winning ways intact.
Coin Flip: Houston
PREDICTION: Texans 27 Broncos 20
This could be the most contentious game of the weekend, though the other late games below also figure to be highly competitive. This could easily come down to a last-minute score and the Seahawks have a home edge which could snap the four game win streak of the Chargers.
Coin Flip: LA Chargers
PREDICTION: Seahawks 26 Chargers 23
Fearless Drew Brees will provide the ultimate answer to solving the Rams' question by scoring more points than their opponent.
Coin Flip: New Orleans
PREDICTION: Saints 38 Rams 35
This being the Packers second straight road game and involving a trip across the country (they lost in LA last week, 29-27), one may think a win out of the question. Don't short-sell Green Bay in their most important game of the season.
Coin Flip: Green Bay
PREDICTION: Packers 34 Patriots 32
8:15 pm Tennessee Titans at Dallas Cowboys (-6 1/2, 41) - The best thing that could have happened to the Titans last week was getting the week off, as they lost their third straight in week seven, losing on a botched two-point conversion to the Chargers, 20-19. Tennessee is 3-4, but outside of a 21-0 whipping by the Ravens, their losses have been by one point twice and seven points in week one (27-20 at Miami.
The Cowboys ought to be good enough to win this at home, but they are very much up and down at 3-4. They are also coming off a bye and a win is likely to be a close call.
Coin Flip: Tennessee
PREDICTION: Cowboys 23 Titans 21

Week 9 Early Games
4:05 pm Los Angeles Chargers at Seattle Seahawks (-1 1/2, 48) - Currently, the 5-2 Chargers pose the only threat to Kansas City in the AFC West, while Seattle has recently found new life with two straight wins. However, the Seahawks are chasing the 8-0 Rams and may already be thinking about a wild card spot.
4:25 pm Los Angeles Rams at New Orleans Saints (-1, 60) - If any team has a chance to whip the Rams, it would be right here. LA escaped a close call agains the Packers last week in a 29-27 win, and, despite an 8-0 record, appear somewhat vulnerable.
8:20 pm Green Bay Packers at New England Patriots (NL, NL) - Superb scheduling by the NFL brings a premiere meeting of the game's two top QBs with Aaron Rodgers facing off against the Patriots' Tom Brady. If entertainment is what you seek, this late night battle is tailor made. There will be no give on either side, and though the Pats are usually quite solid at home, the Packers are somewhat desperate for a win and will be laying some wood on defense.
Monday November 5
Bye: Arizona, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, N.Y. Giants, Philadelphia
