9:00 pm #25 Boise State (-19 1/2, 62 1/2) at New Mexico - Having bumped off Fresno State last week, 24-17, the Broncos have this trap game before hosting #23 Utah State next week in a game that will determine the Mountain division of the Mountain West conference champion.

The Lobos are 1-5 in conference play, 3-7 overall and don't offer much in the way of defense, allowing 35.8 points per game. Boise State should chew through the defense in the first half and coast from there. Subs may see playing time, which could bring New Mexico back under the spread, but that's very iffy.

Coin Flip: New Mexico

PREDICTION: Broncos 48 Lobos 20

Saturday, November 17

12:00 pm #10 Ohio State (-15, 58 1/2) at Maryland - Somehow, Maryland beat Texas in their season opener, but things have trailed off for the Terrapins since. Head coach DJ Durkin was investigated, suspended, cleared, and then fired on October 31, so the season was a mess.

Matt Canada, former head coach of Norther Illinois, took over and last week the Terps showed some spunk, losing a shootout at Indiana, 34-32. They should be even better against the Buckeyes, who are coming off a solid, 26-6, trashing of Michigan State. Maryland will offer more offense than the Spartans, but less on the defensive side. Still, they may give the Buckeyes a bit of a scare as Ohio State's defense still has holes.

Coin Flip: Maryland

PREDICTION: Buckeyes 34 Terrapins 27

12:00 pm Michigan State (-1 1/2, 49) at Nebraska - After starting the season 0-6, the Cornhuskers have won three of their last four, the only loss a 36-31 defeat at Ohio State, so the team has turned a corner and is looking to close out the season on some winning notes. Hosting the Spartans is a big plus, as avid Nebraska fans will be out in force.

The Spartans were humbled by the Buckeyes last week, 26-6, the offense sputtering throughout. The defense, however, played valiantly, and should be in good shape here. The Cornhusker defense still leaves much to be desired, so expect Michigan State to score on them, while the Spartan D will make the going tough.

Coin Flip: Nebraska

PREDICTION: Spartans 28 Cornhuskers 24

12:00 pm #22 Northwestern at Minnesota (-1, 47 1/2) - The only reason the Golden Gophers are favored is because the Wildcats have already secured a spot in the Big Ten championship game, having clinched the West division via a 14-10 win over Iowa. Thus, some starters may get rested and backups will see extended action.

Minnesota walloped Purdue last week, 41-10, which raised some eyebrows and kept the Gophers in the hunt for bowl eligibility at 5-5.

Many mixed signals here, but the Wildcats are a vastly better - and underrated - team.

Coin Flip: Northwestern

PREDICTION: Wildcats 26 Golden Gophers 21

1:30 pm #19 Utah (-7, 48) at Colorado - The Buffs stampeded out of the gate to a 5-0 record, but have been tamed, losing their last five. They need to win here or at Cal next week to be eligible for a bowl game, but Utah leads the PAC-12 South with a 5-3 mark and needs to keep winning. Obviously, the oddsmakers expect this to be a close call, but Colorado has lost each of those last five games by seven or more and the Utes are 3-2 in road games this season.

They're also allowing just 19.7 points per game and that should be good enough to bottle up Colorado's inefficient offense.

Coin Flip: Utah

PREDICTION: Utes 30 Buffaloes 17

2:30 pm #12 Syracuse at #3 Notre Dame (-10 1/2, 65) - This isn't actually a home game for Notre Dame, as it is being played at Yankee Stadium in New York, which means Syracuse fans will be well-represented.

The 8-2 Orange haven't had the most difficult of schedules, but they've been pummeling opponents, boasting a scoring differential of 168. The offense is ranked #7 nationally, scoring 44.4 points per game, better than UCF, West Virginia, or Ohio State.

The Irish are a solid 10-0, their best wins over Michigan, Stanford, Pitt, and Northwestern, though they only blew out Stanford in that bunch. The Irish defense will be tested and Syracuse could spring a big upset.

Coin Flip: Syracuse

PREDICTION: Orange 34 Fighting Irish 30
