NCAA College Football Week 14 Picks - Late Games
NCAA Week 14 Late Games
All times Eastern
4:00 pm #1 Alabama (-13, 63 1/2) vs. #4 Georgia - Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta, GA) will be the site of the SEC championship. Nobody really believes Georgia can defeat the Crimson Tide, which has run up a 12-0 mark and hasn't played a close game all season.
The closest any team has come to even being competitive with Alabama was Texas A&M, and they lost 45-22. LSU was also close - relatively speaking - in a 24-0 home loss to the Tide.
The Bulldogs are very good, at 11-1, their only loss a 36-16 hiccup at LSU, but they have to win to remain in the National Championship hunt. A loss would send them down a number of spots, replaced by either Oklahoma or Ohio State, and that's the most likely scenario. Unless Georgia pulls off a mammoth upset, Alabama will prevail, probably by 20 points or more.
Coin Flip: Georgia
PREDICTION: Crimson Tide 45 Bulldogs 20
Fresno must rely on their defense, which is ranked #2 nationally in points allowed (13.5), if they plan on taking the conference title from the Broncos. They're pretty even with Boise offensively, so a solid defensive effort will go a long way toward a victory. Fresno was 10-2 on the season and 7-1 in conference.
Coin Flip: Fresno State
PREDICTION: Bulldogs 24 Broncos 21
Coin Flip: Clemson
PREDICTION: Tigers 48 Panthers 17
The Buckeyes have to guard against an emotional letdown after their huge win in "The Game" and be ready for Northwestern's best effort. Sophomore Dwayne Haskins has had a Heisman-worthy season, throwing for 4081 yards, 42 TDs and seven interceptions. If he's on his game, the Buckeyes will use their superior speed to advantage. The Wildcats aren't exactly an offensive powerhouse, so the Buckeye defense should contain them well. Ohio State knows that a loss by Georgia will likely land them in the National Championship Final Four.
Coin Flip: Ohio State
PREDICTION: Buckeyes 45 Wildcats 25

Week 14 Early Games
7:45 pm #25 Fresno State at #22 Boise State (-2 1/2, 52) - These two met less than a month ago, at Boise State, and the Broncos prevailed, 24-17, so Boise merits an edge both for home field and knowing how to defeat the Bulldogs. At 10-2, the Broncos probably should be ranked a little higher. They knocked off Utah State last week, 33-24, to secure the Mountain West West division with a 7-1 mark (10-2 overall). The Broncos have a very solid defense and the offense continued to improve throughout the season.
8:00 pm #2 Clemson (-27 1/2, 53) vs. Pittsburgh - (Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte, NC) Like Alabama, Clemson is undefeated and they've walloped opponents with regularity this season, outscoring opponents a combined 548-168. Pitt's differential is +1 (334-333), so this looks like a walkover for the Tigers. Pitt took the Coastal division with a 6-2 mark, but they were 7-5 overall. Among the losses were a 51-6 thrashing by Penn State and a 45-14 loss at UCF. While the Panthers played well against Notre Dame in a 19-14 defeat, Clemson is in another league altogether. Should they win by more than four touchdowns? Probably.
8:00 pm #21 Northwestern vs. #6 Ohio State (-14, 60 1/2) - (Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis IN) After seeing what the Buckeyes did to Michigan last week, romping them, 63-39, it wouldn't be beyond the pale to see Ohio State win this one by four TDs or more. Northwestern steamrolled through a weak West division with an 8-1 mark, but were 8-4 overall. Their losses to Michigan (20-17) and Notre Dame (31-21) were good enough for the Wildcats to gain some modicum of respect, however, and Ohio State would do well to not be overconfident.
