Week 11 Results: Rick 8-5-1; Coin: 8-5-1
9:00 pm Air Force at Nevada (-2, 52 1/2) - The Wolf Pack is the #1 scoring team in the conference, averaging 34.3 ppg over six Mountain West games. QB Carson Strong can really air it out and has six or seven solid targets available. The Falcon defense will be tested. Nevada's two conference losses are to Fresno State, 34-32, and San Diego State, 23-21, both on the road.
Coin Flip: Air Force
Prediction: Wolf Pack 34 Falcons 24
9-1 Houston is 7-0 in the conference and would like to keep pace with 8-0 Cincinnati. Their defense leaves a lot on the field, giving up 37 to SMU and 42 to South Florida in recent games but won both.
Coin Flip: Memphis
Prediction: Cougars 35 Tigers 23
Coin Flip: San Diego State
Prediction: Aztecs 30 Rebels 9
12:00 pm #7 Michigan State at #4 Ohio State (-19, 66 1/2) - Premier game of the weekend starts off Saturday with a bang. A win by either team puts them in the top spot in the Big Ten East, and it looks like the Buckeyes will romp with QB CJ Stroud playing his best football. The Buckeyes rolled over Purdue, 59-31, last week and should shred the Spartans' porous pass defense.
Michigan State did whip Michigan a few weeks ago, and they can ing their hats on that, but winning at the Horseshoe is a long shot.
Coin Flip: Michigan State
Prediction: Buckeyes 48 Spartans 24
Brock Purdy and Breece Hall power an impressive Cyclone offense, but the defense has developed some soft spots, as Iowa State has dropped two of their last three, both on the road - West Virginia, 38-31, and Texas Tech, 41-38. A second straight road game is a negative, but the Cyclones can hang right with the Sooners, who have offense problems of their own.
Coin Flip: Oklahoma
Prediction: Cyclones 31 Sooners 27
A win here puts the Tigers back in the rankings with an 8-3 record. Their losses to Georgia, NC State and Pittsburgh are high quality, and, while their offense isn't the usual Clemson powerhouse, Wake's defense has plenty of holes.
Coin Flip: Clemson
Prediction: Tigers 38 Demon Deacons 31
Getting past the Illini will not be easy, and winning by nearly two TDs may be impossible in what figures to be a defensive struggle.
Coin Flip: Illinois
Prediction: Fighting Illini 17 Hawkeyes 14
Coin Flip: Notre Dame
Prediction: Fighting Irish 38 Yellow Jackets 17

Friday, November 19
9:00 pm Memphis at #17 Houston (-9 1/2, 60 1/2) - 5-5 Memphis has lost just one game by more than six points, a 24-7 setback at UCF, on Oct. 22, but they have not yet won a conference road game.
11:30 pm #22 San Diego State (-11, 41) at UNLV - Hey, it's Friday, so East Coasters can stay up late. The Aztecs have dominated the Mountain West with a smothering defense, while the Rebels have won two straight after losing their first eight games. Their offense will not be up to the task.
Saturday, November 20
12:00 pm Iowa State at #8 Oklahoma (-4, 61) - The Sooners are coming off their first loss of the season, 27-14 at Baylor, and will be tested by the rugged Iowa State bunch.
12:00 pm #12 Wake Forest at Clemson (-3 1/2, 56) - Two weeks ago the Demon Deacons got blindsided by the Tar Heels, 58-55, but bounced back for a 45-42 win over NC State. A win here wraps up the ACC Atlantic division, but Clemson can ruin their season with a win here and next week and a Wake loss at Boston College.
2:00 pm #18 Iowa (-12 1/2, 38 1/2) at Illinois - Iowa can capture the Big Ten West, but they'll need somebody to defeat Wisconsin. With the Badgers playing Nebraska this week and at Minnesota next week, it could happen. The Hawkeyes have to win this game and next week at Nebraska.
2:30 pm Georgia Tech at #9 Notre Dame (-16, 59 1/2) - Notre Dame has been just chugging along, winning their games by wide margins. The 3-7 Yellow Jackets shouldn't be much of a problem.
