Week 13 Results: Rick: 7-7; Coin: 4-10
Thursday, December 9
Pittsburgh Steelers at Minnesota Vikings (-3, 43 1/2) 8:20 pm - The results from last week tell the whole story. Over the course of the season, the Vikings have invented ways to lose football games, falling to Detroit last week, 29-27, while the Steelers showed again why they can never be counted out, upending the Ravens, 20-19.
Those results got the Steelers to 6-5-1 and into playoff contention and the Vikings to 5-7 and on the verge of being the biggest disappointment of the season. If all goes the way the season has gone for both teams, Pittsburg will win by two points.
Coin Flip: Minnesota
Prediction: Steelers 23 Vikings 21
Atlanta Falcons at Carolina Panthers (-3, 42 1/2) 1:00 pm - The loser of this game is unlikely to make the playoffs, as both enter at 5-7. Even though the NFC is especially weak this year, three wild cards are going to be playing after the regular season is over. Carolina will have two games against Tampa Bay and one against Buffalo and New Orleans after this, so they might as well lose now and avoid the melodrama.
Coin Flip: Carolina
Prediction: Falcons 20 Panthers 17
Cleveland defenders might as well high-five each other in the locker room. If Baltimore scores 20 it will be a miracle.
Coin Flip: Cleveland
Prediction: Browns 24 Ravens 9
Seattle absconds with a win and Houston cries all night. The Seahawks still aren't any good.
Coin Flip: Houston
Prediction: Seahawks 30 Texans 10
Maybe.
Coin Flip: Las Vegas
Prediction: Chiefs 34 Raiders 10
Coin Flip: New Orleans
Prediction: Jets 27 Saints 17
The Tennessee offense will help the Jags think they can win this one.
Coin Flip: Jacksonville
Prediction: Titans 30 Jaguars 24
Dallas, as phony as their record, may get blown out here. In the past six weeks, the Cowboys are 3-3, with wins over Minnesota, Atlanta, and a broken New Orleans team and losses to Denver, Kansas City, and Las Vegas. They're 4-2 on the road, but the road ends in DC.
Coin Flip: Dallas
Prediction: Football Team 31 Cowboys 17

Bye: Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots, Philadelphia Eagles (last bye week of season)
Sunday, December 12
Baltimore Ravens at Cleveland Browns (-2 1/2, 42) 1:00 pm - Baltimore's offense is so focused on Lamar Jackson that it's become easy to defend. Since week 6, the Ravens have scored more than 17 points exactly one time - 1-for-6 - a 34-31 OT victory over Minnesota.
Seattle Seahawks (-7 1/2, 41 1/2) at Houston Texans 1:00 pm - Just because Seattle topped the 49ers last week, 30-23, they're supposed to be good now. Truth is, they're 4-8 and only marginally better than the Texans, if at all. Houston got blanked by Cincinnati last week because Tyrod Taylor, their only reasonably-effective QB was injured and won't play here.
Las Vegas Raiders at Kansas City Chiefs (-9 1/2, 48) 1:00 pm - Good luck, Vegas., Your team has lost four of five and is now a .500 team. This game is a roadie, against a fierce division rival. The last time the Raiders and Chiefs met, KC emerged a 41-14 victor. Can it get worse than that?
New Orleans Saints (-5, 43 1/2) at NY Jets 1:00 pm - The Saints don't have a quarterback capable of throwing a straight spiral, so the Jets are alive here. The Jets have beaten Tennessee and Cincinnati in New York, so New Orleans should be a breeze for them, even with rookie Zach Wilson behind center.
Jacksonville Jaguars at Tennessee Titans (-9, 44) 1:00 pm - Be careful here if you think the Titans should blow out the Jags. Since losing Derrick Henry, the Titans are 2-2, and one of those losses was to Houston. The Jaguars have lost four straight and really have no reason to even show up for this.
Dallas Cowboys (-4, 48) at Washington Football Team 1:00 pm - You've got to be kidding with this line. The Cowboys are hanging on for dear life to a two-game lead in the NFC East while the Football Team from hell has emerged victorious from its last four encounters.
